OL or DL

Why not get a sure thing in Thuney? We will have around 50 million in cap space after cuts and he is young (just turned 28)

Building for 2021 and beyond.  The bar has been set very low for this season, so why burn money unnecessarily.  Unspent cap money rolls over season to season.  No need to sign pricey FAs and burn cap money for...let's face it, a bottom 5 team.

If they stay at 7, it's gotta be LB Simmons. DT is next important but we can get a decent one in the 2nd round and most D-lineman don't shine for at least a year or 2 anyway. The OL just has to stay healthy. Daley at LG is a real possibility. It's really all about Paradis. If he regains his form from Denver then we have a decent line, not great, but decent.

I'm leaning toward D-line, particularly DT in this draft. We have got to get someone who can clog the middle, clear lanes for our LBs and demand double teams (or just do the ol' grab two of 'em by the collar Brentson Buckner technique).

Our defense was second in the league in sacks and at the bottom in run defense. We had a bunch of sack specialists who just couldn't tackle anyone who wasn't a QB. It sounds good on Madden, but it just killed us time and time again. It got to be downright embarrassing to watch us celebrate a sack and then give up a 30-yard rush up the middle while sack dancers were just standing around with their thumbs up their butts.

Don't need a star to clog the middle...we talked about Kyle and his long ball....how many times did he have to throw it before he was completely set due to the pocket collapsing around him.  The OLine gave him 2.5 sec's to throw or be hit.

you taking for granted that Little can play LT in this league.  So what do you do when in preseason he is the same guy and you are trusting him to protect Cam cause you just had to have that flashy sports car on the DL or at LB.  Always easier to fix the DL and we have LB's this year.

From my personal research I personally would Love to go OL, but from what I am seeing Brown could be the second best player in the draft and thats behind only Chase... how could you say no to that at a position that is a glaring need? that falls into our lap and I have hard time saying no.

This. Brown will be a beast and cheap on a rookie contract. Not ready to give up.on Little yet.

I can't argue with that. What we need on our O-line is a star center. You try running that past the Huddle "experts" though and they'll howl.

Believe me, I tried that route last year in trying to suggest grabbing that Center from NC State that went to Minnesota and had a darned good year. Would have been a major upgrade over Paradis-Paradon't.

Im going OL as well because

1. Im more confident in getting a rd 2 impact DT than I am a OT there.

2. The Strength of the OT class at the top.  Brown and Kinlaw are Studs, but there Stud DTs in every class.  While OTs not so much, and this is the best OT crop in at least 5 yrs in scouts eyes.

3. The Offense.  Joe Brady's offense relys on the 5 OL being able to block and hold up with no help.  That means no Manhurtz to help this pitiful OL like he has the last 5 years.

Actually with 4 and 5 receiver sets there are usually guys coming in unblocked. His system is based on getting the ball out quickly to help the offense rather than requiring a stout offensive line like the Cowboys. The reason is it is hard to have 5 stud linemen on a college team that turns over personnel every few years. Much like New Orleans where linemen look great because of Brees and the system not the other way around.

In the draft and FA...we have holes everywhere but focusing only on the trenches...

DLine:

Obada-KK-Poe-Burns (Assuming 4-3)

Oline:

Little-Daley-Paradis-Turner-Moton

The bold is what could be upgraded (No accounting for growth or how they may work (or not work) in our new scheme. That leaves us with two options:

A. Have minimal time to throw/receivers to complete route. Increased chance of injury to our QB. An upgrade here would upgrade our passing game and running game.

B. Have a swiss cheese run defense, possibly worse than last year. Three of the four are coming off injuries that either sidelined them or effected their play. An upgrade here would upgrade our ability to stop the run and rush the passer. Getting to the qb faster also makes improves our db play and if our DT's do their job, it should also help the LB.

Take your pick..Ofcourse we could upgrade both with superior drafting and hitting on a couple FA gems. I just don't see it happening in one offseason...but stranger things have been done.

Mark me down as a DL guy, for the simple fact you rotate/need more of them. Just look at the pay scale too, DEs get more than OTs, DTs get way more than OG/Cs. Plus a DL can effect the whole defense, make LBs and DBs look better than they are. OL can play better, but if the WR/TEs cant get open it doesnt matter.
