It’s third grade math and not that hard.

It's not third grade math, the Saints have been kicking the can for years. In the 2018 preseason, they were literally millions under the cap and made huge FA signings and gave Michael Thomas a contract that made him the highest paid receiver in football. It's reasonable to wonder why the hell they're able to do that and we can't even extend Bradberry and Addison. Maybe they're on their way to a year they have half their cap in dead cap, idk, but it's getting annoying.

Yes it is. It’s called restructuring. And every team, including CAR does it. Just because you don’t understand it, doesn’t mean no one else does.

I 100% understand restructuring. I don't understand how it seems to never hit the Saints. I recall laughing with fans before the 2015 season how the Saints would have 5-10 years from doing it where they couldn't buy a win. 5 years later here we are... I know you can kick contracts down the road, but I don't think you can keep kicking other dead cap down the road.

We do it, but we don't do it to their extent. Their name is constantly next to big time free agents, when the heck does the part where it bites them come?

I literally saw one point the saints were 20,000,000 UNDER the cap, the next week they restricted and made MT the highest paid receiver in football and signed another big time guy... while we sat here and wondered how to sign someone (maybe Norwell or star?)

The day after Brees retires. We are paying for Luke’s restructured deal this year. It’s also why KK has a 17M dead cap hit. They, and every other team has the same rules. They will have to eat around 25M when Brees retires. But until then, they keep going for it and hide it in voidable years.

If you understand restructuring, what’s the question here?

Hill says hi. They don't care, that's likely their plan for it. Whoever their Gm is should get paid more then Payton.

You shouldn't be able to kick cap away more then once, it's B.S how they do that.

What does Hill have to do with it?

All teams have the same rules. If we did what they did with Cam, his deeds cap hit would probably be about 20M instead of 2M. They are on a “window” with a HOF QB in his last year(s). That’s why they are taking the chances and can live with the future hits.

We're middle of the road in regards to cap and get even more relief once Poe is released.

That saves us 10 million.  When all is said and done we should have about 42 million to spend.

Minus around 10 million for draft picks and with about 15 more players needed in a weak market. Just isnt much to be spent and need too many.  Its going to a long 2020.
