Simmons+Blacklock/Madubuike or Brown+Murray/Queen/Malik would be legit.

1: Brown DT, 2: Murray LB, 3: Biadasz/Hennessy C (or one of the top mid round OTs)

...the remainder BPA with some weapons would be a pretty awesome haul IMO

Exactly. Murray or Queen both look like they will come off the board in the 22-30 range, so I don't think we can wait on them until the 2nd, but yeah, I like your thoughts.

I'm even good with Simmons/Gallimore combo if Brown is gone, and if we don't want to move up in the 2nd.

Yep.  The nice thing is that I know we're just looking at the two positions, but really, they could be both BPA picks given how many WRs may go in the first.  These would be 2 defensive leaders for years to come.

As a quick breakdown, before pick 39 who is likely taken? I see 28 for sures without counting any LBs but Simmons:

(5) QBs: Burrow, Herbert, Tua, Love, Eason

(4) OLs: Thomas, Bechton, Wills, Wirfs

(8-9) WRs: Jeudy, Lamb, Reagar, Ruggs, Jefferson, Aiyuk, Higgins, Shenault, Hamler minimum.  All are 1st Round Talent.

(2) DTs: Brown, Kinlaw

(4) DEs: Young, Gross-Matos, Epenesa, Chaisson

(1) LB: Simmons

(2) CBs: Okudah, Fulton

(1) S: McKinney

Basically, there is a high likelihood Murray, Queen, Jefferson, Gallimore, Blacklock, or Madubuike are there at 39.   I find all those guys 1st/fringe 1st round talents.  Also, Delpit or Dugger at safety could be others with 1st round picks to take in the second.  Mims and Van Jefferson may also be of interest.

I see the first tier drop right around the top-40 so believe we are in prime position at 39.  Maybe even move up a few picks using a 6th to ensure a guy if a STUD slips to 33-35

The only way we take Kinlaw is if the draft board falls completely different than most people are predicting.  Usually, there's not too many surprises that early.  But yeah, with QBs gone, Brown gone, and Okunda gone with Simmons and ALL OTs left on the board is about the best scenario for Kinlaw.  Chances are really slim it goes down like that, but it's possible.  We have to build the lines, so I think Simmons is the odd man out at #7, so it's down to Kinlaw or an OT.  I think Hurney has too much pride to even give the appearance he's giving up on Little, therefore, Kinlaw would likely be the pick in that scenario.

Honestly if that happened, I'd be for trading down still possibly getting one of the three OL and stand a good chance of still getting Simmons; perhaps Kinlaw.

Did you guys listen to Rhule.... he said he wants positionless players. Wait till you see Isiah Simmons run a 4.4 flat at 6'4 230, I just think Rhule and especially Hurney will fall in love. I would take Brown though. Brown is a much better run stuffing DT than Kinlaw and in a more important position then Simmons.

4.4 doesn't mean jack when you play arguably the least important position on defense LB. This game is all about the pass rush and lockdown db's. We just had a generational LB in Luke and even he couldn't make a difference for our defense last year. No way we take Simmons at #7.

Im thinking we trade back and get another extra pick. We can still get a good player if we trade back. I could see Kinlaw still being on the board depending how far we trade back.

*****Positionless. He's a better Derwin James. Kinlaw can be had at 12 if we trade back with the Raiders. I want Brown, but if he is gone they will go Simmons (if the Giants don't take him at 4.) If we want Kinlaw we should try to trade back.

Most gamecock football fans are duke basketball fans. Another reason to dislike the state of South Carolina.

Says who?  Their basketball team is pretty decent most years; much better than the football program, so why would Gamecock fans choose Duke?    I'm not sure where you got your information.  Now if you mean when Duke plays the Tarheels, possibly, but they are not straight up Duke fans.
