There's someone who REALLY smells like the pick to me...

Something to consider is imagine this guy next to Arik Armstead or DeForest Bucker.  One of those two will be on the market and imagine that pairing on a line.  Talk about a good first step in a rebuild.

Honestly Derrick Brown next to either of them as well.  And then you have Burns coming in from the outside standing, grab a base-DE in the mid rounds for in the dirt.  This would in effet make Short a few years younger as well.  I'd love to construct a monstrous DL as much as fortifying an offensive line.

Also--this doesn't mean we can't grab an OT and C in the draft.

Lines out!  I just want a fierce juggernaut of a defensive front.  Kuechly is gone so let's build the militia with a group to collapse pockets and wreck offensive lines.

What you “smell” on Kinlaw is the distinct, putrid odor of living in South Carolina.

As someone from neither of the Carolina's, I can only say in the weeks of experience I've had in either North or South Carolina, both have been very nice.

You smell what I'm smelling?

A fine Tuesday mid-day breeze

On a rooftop in the American midwest

As you gaze upon the skyline, a most glorious sense of awesome

A man emerges, who should most definitely blossom...

There is a certain player that if you take a step back and take a big whiff, smells like the guy I can totally see us gravitating towards at #7.  And honestly, I think this gentleman maybe one we could all get on board with:

JAVON KINLAW

South Carolina Defensive Tackle 6'5 315 lbs

Behemoth of a man but an athletic, powerful force.

Now he got his knees a bit worn at the Senior Bowl and he's being extra careful with not participating in combine drills (smart in my opinion):

I think Young, Derrick Brown, & Okudah seem primed to go high but man, I'd choose this guy over Herbert, Simmons, some of these OTs.  Maybe even Brown depending on how you look at building a D-line.  Adding him to a DL could be lethal and if you look at the 49ers recent model, could make sense in building this team from the lines out.  There's plenty of 2-4th round offensive lineman in this draft but the top-2 in this DT class are special in my view.

Maybe it's because of being a Tuesday, but Kinlaw smells like the guy.  Smells as good as Rihanna.

If this team is beginning to make picks geographically rather than on talent (or even need), "screwed" is a term that is more than inadequate to describe the future of the Carolina Panthers organization.

You obviously have never seen Brown play.

I've seen Brown run down running backs 15-20 yards downfield and pursue running backs/receivers sideline to sideline.

He is stiffer in the hips than Kinlaw.  I prefer Brown anyway so whatever.  Brown is a great run defender and like a bull in the middle.  Do want.

Who in the world is saying we make picks geographically?  Are you in the right thread?

Welp guess Trevor Lawrence is off the table.  Damn.

Either could fit on the team, and both should be great players, but I think Brown grades out as the best fit for a NT on this team.

If you look at versatility, I think Kinlaw serves as a 1, 3, and 5 tech.  Super nimble on the line.  He's a potential stud with a high ceiling as a pass rusher.

Brown is a 1 and 3 tech.  Plop him in the middle to be a consistent disruptor.  He's a long term building block.  He gets the sacks but is balanced and ruthless.

Edge to Brown overall and as a building block but Kinlaw has a higher upside.

If you are a South Carolina fan don't start. I'm not on here begging for the Panthers to draft Isiah Simmons... DTs are not top 10 grade players, sorry, but it's the truth. It'd be a stupid pick when the best MLB in history is retiring. There are always solid DTs in free agency, they are not worth using a pick that should always be a pro bowler. If Isiah Simmons is there, I honestly think he is the pick there just based off the fact we need a LB BAD. Short is still there at DT...
