I think the "position-less" player is a reference to guys like McCaffrey, Bonnafon, Burns, etc.

Well considering he was talking about the D when this quote came,  I doubt CMC or Bonnafon are who he is referencing.

I will say, I Really want to hit the Trenches HARD this draft.  But that quote painted the picture of Isaiah Simmons to me.

Just now, Mr. Scot said:

I don't know that I'd say Tepper "doesn't want him". He might not, but I don't think we've seen enough to say that definitively.

It is fair to say that he's not publicly committing to him and that it's highly unlikely he'll be offered an extension at this point.

I'm not sure ANYONE would offer Cam long-term security. I honestly think Cam was shopped, these reports from multiple reporters didn't stem from a rumor. The price was likely a 1st and teams scoffed.

I'm not really a big fan of that approach.

The Redskins used to do that. I'd have to check the timeline but Marty might have been there when they did. He'd likely be aware of it at least.

It didn't exactly produce great results.

It definitely depends on how he means it.

You could look at it as guys that:

  • RBs but are good pass catchers that can spread our as a WR
  • TEs who are good blockers and receivers
  • LBers who can stand up rush the passer or play with a hand in the dirt
  • Safeties who can play coverage or can come down and play in the box
  • DTs who can play NT in the 3-4 or 4-3 with different technique.

I'm not saying it was the be-all, end-all for a decision, but it's absolutely undeniable that the #Panthers would have a very difficult time moving Cam on the trade market. He's not healthy yet. Other teams are not touching that with a robust surrounding QB market this offseason.

The Redskins approach as explained by Vinny Cerrato was that they'd just draft really athletic players and then decide where they fit in.

Player versatility is a good thing, but the way the Skins did it makes me think of Rob Ryan's "eleven safeties" approach on defense.
