Carolina sticking with Cam

I can give you my take on all three of those directions pretty easily.

What I think will happen: I don't know. At this point, the only thing I feel confident saying is that Newton won't get an extension this offseason. Gun to my head, I think he plays here in 2020 but I wouldn't be confident beyond that. I also wouldn't guarantee that he finishes the season healthy given that hasn't happened since 2017 (if then).

What I want to happen: I don't care. Whatever is best for the team, and there are waaayyy too many unknowns to say for certain what that is right now.

What I think is the best option: See answers #1 and 2.

My thoughts on the entire team building has changed A LOT over the past number of months...everything started changing quickly the moment Ron was out the door.  I fully expected Marty to follow...that hasn't happened yet.  I didn't expect to land Rhule, certainly didn't expect to get Brady.  Didn't expect Cam to wait so long to have his surgery, and didn't know before the end of the season that there would be a league wide QB carousel.

Now that all of that is known, we can start to form new possibilities.  With new information, those three points that I mentioned are going to change.  Not for everyone, but for most of us.  Some never ever want Cam to leave, retirement or otherwise, some want him out the door immediately, some want a new direction, some want more of the same....but my thoughts on the future of that position and team have changed a lot.

When all of this was coming down the pike, I wanted Cam to play out his deal, see where he is health wise, and then talk about future contracts or not coming from the Panthers.  That has changed, with Olsen leaving, Luke leaving, our dead cap adding up, and our team looking worse and worse every day.  Now, I what want has changed, I no longer think that having Cam here does anything good for the team, other than make some fans happier....until the losing starts.

What I think will happen:  Cam is cut or traded, but the timing on the surgery has put the team in a bind.  He can't work out for the team, which means he can't work out for other teams, which means he can't pass a physical.  But in the end I think he is traded.

What I want to happen:  Trade Cam if at all possible to a team of his choosing, if not cut him loose and let him go find his way.  Play Grier through the year, while signing no expensive free agents, taking all dead money possible on the chin this year, extending Moton and front loading the contract, and see what we have in Grier, maybe he can be a long term backup?  Address the lines, and attempt to build this teams depth as best as possible.  Solve your obvious QB issue next season.

What is the best for the team:  What I laid out in what I want to happen.

This is just them trying to drum up trade interest

WFNZ talking about it now.  Said their sources down the street have told them the Panthers have recieved 0 phone calls and 0 teams have shown any interest despite what some other rumors that have been circulating

because he's not now nor has he ever been up for trade, why would they be receiving interest lol

i don't have a for sale sign in front of my house so i don't receive offers for it

Wait, is the March work out still happening?  That tweet sounds like he is still a ways off from being healthy.

I think rhule and his statement just put the ball back in cams court

I just posted that above. When I read that it doesn’t make me all warm and fuzzy. Hearing that he’s months away from being game ready? How is that good for us? Everyone that wants to keep Cam since he’ll be the MVP again is ignoring that it sure seems like we are right back in 2016-2019 where every offseason was a health issue/question mark and we didn’t know what we’d get. It’s March this weekend. We start the regular season in 6 months. Months from game ready implies Summer before we see what we have. Sure as poo can’t think about trading or extending him so do you sign free agents to try and patch the abomination we’ve had the past two years (going 1-15 in the second halves and people worry about having a bad 2020?). Ugh. This doesn’t look like good news to me, looks like more of the same last 4 years now with a crappy D of the past 2 years.

The quickest path back to relevance comes by rebuilding a defense. You're far more likely to luck into 20 points on offense with CMC and Moore than you are to luck into holding a team under 20 with Shaq and a bunch of delivery boys and door-to-door dictionary salesmen on defense.

Pick Brown No. 7. If he ain't there, pick Simmons. Go for Kyle Dugger if we can. Dude will be a beast. This offseason needs to be defense-first.

Agreed. Fix the defense and let Brady work his magic with the offense. Especially if Cam is at QB.

No kid your poo posts where any chance you get Cam is gone is tiring, the shtick is old. No one cares what “roaring riot zack” said because he has as many sources as we do 0. Tepper is not letting some random fan club guy in on how he runs the team it’s just not happening. Why that’s so over your fuging head no one knows. Your boy could say Tepper stubbed his toe and you’d be shouting from the rooftops in defense of him no matter what.

Most rational people have said from the start unless you get a mass haul or a QB you fee is the next franchise QB you run with Cam.

• Your first excuse was some random poster saying Cecil would NEVER let Cam play on a one year prove it deal, Cam came out and said he would do anything to stay in Carolina ; Your response nope can’t be, once your boy says it “things have changed the Cam camp is good with it” months after Cam said he was good with it

• Cam needs to be healthy before any discussions are made per Tepper, Rhule, Hurney ; Your response “Well the fact they didn’t say he’ll be here another 15 years means he’s gone”

You’ve done it over and over consistently changing when your “insider” a glorified fan club starter has said what is common sense. Just drop the act for god’s sake.

Lets have this conversation after March 18th. So many people think they know, truthfully no one knows but Mr. Tepper and Matt Rhule. The info I had came from a previous employee, so that is dated as well. I would take any reports before March 18th with a grain of salt and subject to change.

He is getting cut under the premise he is (can't get) healthy
