A healthy cam Newton speeds up any rebuild.

Maybe, but every post about him always has that healthy qualifier. It’s not good that he’s months away. Rhule said September was still OK. If he’s not practicing in a brand new offense until late summer, that’s not good.

That's because he's injured.

The same qualifiers would be placed On Tua if we drafted him.

Cam Newton is a hard working professional. He'll be fine. No one's questioned his ability OT pick up offenses.

He’s always worked hard yet the injuries are taking a bigger toll each year. That’s my point. You saying he’ll be fine doesn’t mean much. He was supposed to be fine to start last year and he got reinjured and IR’d. If he was passing a physical in March as was reported, I’d feel a whole lot better than hearing yesterday that he’s months away.

We have a full season to figure that out, it really isnt as big of a deal as youre making out to be.

Yep. Amazing that people can’t separate letting your FAs go/not signing big money FAs/acquiring draft picks from creating a losing culture and players not trying. You can tank by knowingly using inexperienced and less talented guys while you try to acquire more talent through the draft/higher draft slots.

Jordan Gross admitted we tanked in 2010, but that’s not good enough because that would invalidate the tanking/full rebuild = loser’s mentality/being the Browns. We’ve been the Browns. We had the 2nd worst OL and the 2nd worst D last year. We’re 1-15 the past two second halves with that one win when NO didn’t care and sat Brees.

And if you lose a vet or two, who would probably regressing in 3 years anyhow, The gems you find giving young, hungry players an entire years of experience. Which helps in evaluations going forward. That’s why I’m trading down as much as possible. And the only player I would sign is Moton. Mainly because he’s solid and I still think he would crush LG or RG if/when Trai goes. Offer 4/50 before you lose the leverage on him. Use UDFA as an asset, not some chore after the draft.

I think Cam would have to play at his 2015 level for this team to win 6 games.

If he was a free agent and the kid we drafted three years ago turned out to be weak sauce, any one of these free agents could be a potential good stop-gap or franchise QB again.

If Drew Brees (shoulder) and Teddy Bridgewater (knee/hip) can be what they once were why am I betting Cam won't? If this team could focus on rebuilding the defense this year that would be great. Luke is gone. Defense is even more important now.

Drew Brees was 25 yrs old when he hurt his shoulder and was never a duel threat QB. Bridgewater rarely runs anymore.

Running is a big part of his game. There is a lot of millage and hits on his body. With out running hes no where the same threat. Period. And he has a long history of injuries.

We’ll see. I think the 2021 QB class is good enough that it would suck to need a QB after 2020 and not partake. The exact same things were said about Cam’s health before 2018 and 2019. I’m worried but hey, I love the draft so combine starts tomorrow.

And he admitted his shoulder wasn't 100% at the start of last season

Cool, this is far more positive than some recent non comments from the owner and others.  I hope he is a Panther next season.

On the other hand, unless I missed a contract extension, I won't be sure he is our QB next year until closer to camp.  This kind of stuff is regularly said about players right before a trade etc.

But, personally, i hope Cam is back... I think Cam is more valuable to us than what we would get in a trade right now... not to mention how fun he is to watch.
