Carolina sticking with Cam

Really the best thing even if it's a rebuild year.  You have a sure thing coming off injury vs an unknown just coming into the league.  Cam is in his final year, if he can't stay healthy, throw deep passes, or move well, then you move on from him next year.  I for one am excited to see how Joe Brady uses Cam this year

Nah. It looked bad for a while but my health is actually improving over the last few months.

Oh you mean on the board?

Nah, I'm okay here too. Whatever's best for the team is fine with me. And heck, it's just football.

But hey, thanks for your concern.

Agreed. I honestly don’t feel better about all the announcements. If they decide to keep Cam, great. Whether or not I felt a complete rebuild was best, that’s the first decision. That said hearing that he’s months out from knowing if he’s healthy just brings me back to the past three offseasons. Is Cam healthy? Will he be start the year and will he make it to the end? Shades of reinjury from Cam last year and Olsen’s foot as well. You just don’t feel like the plan is solid and that we may commit to something because Cam’s health isn’t known. I have this gut feeling that this year will just be another 6-8 win lost season and we’ll miss out on some future franchise QBs. Here’s to Cam’s health otherwise we just screwed up the rebuild. Even with Cam when you’ve lost so many guys over the past few years, it’s a rebuild.

You're probably right, can't argue too much.

I'm not sure that we won't pick up a real QB prospect in the draft and work with him as the starter through OTAs and training camp, considering the multiple months (maybe even September) they warn of on the Cam watch. There are just too many good candidates that could be waiting for us not just in the first, but second rounds to pass up on the opportunity.

And while I'd love to see Cam healthy and back up to full capabilities again, I'm also leary of the guy who has left us hanging for three seasons running now. At some point, you might have to look at it like a date that has been stringing you along ...

Calm down Cam has never been WHY we've lost games. This is a faster more predictable road to success.

Rhule and Brady are super excited about coaching the best specimen they've EVER got to work with at QB, a professional MVP level QB. Rhule said his son has been calling and asking about Cam. LET THEM BE HAPPY. Let them have the opportunity.

I have NEVER seen a fan base so obsessed with being losers. You guys need therapy. That's not football.

I blame fantasy football, again.

You'd like to think, given the results of recent seasons, that they'd have a good backup / alternative plan just in case things go sideways.

Of course, that would have been logical last year too, so...

My only thing with this, I don't want to see the Cam having a Par finish to get cleared to play. You can hate Kyle Allen all you want, but he is 5-4 as the Panthers starter under a HC that has been a coordinator more then once in his whole career (He also had a excellent game in NO, but Slye cost us that win). If we start 1-3, 2-2, so be it... But Cam needs to have his health 100% under him. I'm not understanding why the foot is such a big deal, the shoulder is what concerns me. We have no way of knowing what those deep passes underthrown had to do with, shoulder strength or the foot. Honestly, the Panthers need a MVP talent like Cam to make the playoffs, it's not like this is a playoff or bust mess. He has not played a game since early September 2019... Meaning dating to December 2018, Cam has participated in 2 full games. If that shoulder is still a mess in TC after a year and a half, I believe the Panthers can still cut him as long as he can pass a physical. You'll see more dual threat stuff now that Norv is gone though, so arm strength might be a moot point.

2017 Cam never threw longer then 30 yards either, but his running ability made up for it. I honestly think if that team is in any other division, they likely would've made the NFC title game at worst.

What on earth is going on in this post?

Kyle Allen threw 16 interceptions through 9 starts. Nobody is making him the starter guy.

Though now that I think about it, I know for a fact that we have contacted multiple teams about Cam unsolicited, so that means one of three things.

1. We have no intention of keeping him and are just attempting to up his value
2. We wanted to see the market for him and were not satisfied with what was offered
3. They really had zero idea on what his health would be like and are suddenly impressed enough to have faith in him

I don't know how you bumble this whole thing this badly. Hurney magic.

#2 is the most likely answer. They were likely just looking for a SUPER DESPERATE suitor to offer them a "too good to pass on" deal. When that didn't happen, they realized they should either stick with Cam long-term or at least improve his value before shopping him.

Sort of the most likely....there is also the element of Cam not being able to pass a physical, so no matter if a team offered us 4 1st's, it wouldn't have mattered.

My hunch, is they thought he would be farther along in his rehab, but he's not, so everything will have to take a backseat to health, and that's why everything seems so screwy right now.

It’s not going to be fun and your last paragraph is my biggest concern. He hasn’t finished 3 of the last 4 years and the one he did he looked terrible arm wise and threw for under 200 yards 11 out of 16. People mention other QB injuries. Well in most cases they were either small (Brees’ thumb) or they sat out almost a year and got healthy. Cam missed what 4 games in the first three years he was hurting then finally he sat out most of last year. Not his fault, he had morons helping or hurting him. Now we’ve got another surgery at the end of the year and the hope he’s ready for the start of the year. Ugh. Same old same old. People might think I hate Cam, I don’t. I just think 5 straight years of injuries and/or off season surgery isn’t going to get him back to an MVP level so I’d rather blow it up and go for that franchise QB on a rookie deal and hope for the best.

Remember last month, the team indicated to Jourdan Rodrigue that they thought he'd be able to pass a physical in March.

Right. I'd bet he passes the physical next month as expected. Rhule was likely impressed by what he saw of Cam's workouts, and quelled alot of his concerns in that area.

That was what we were told, now we are hearing "I'll be fine if he's not fully healthy until Sept."....big big difference from where we were when he went under the knife.

I have a feeling this coaching staff will put a higher premium on offense. The olines this team has marched out there the past 4 or 5 years have been sad. Surprised Cam is still in the league. Most QBs would be on permanent IR by now. Cam is a different animal though, and I'm not ready to give up on him before he actually has a chance with quality offensive coaches and a few real weapons.

Honestly, if Tua is sitting there at 7, I'd have a tough time passing on him too - assuming the biggest oline concerns are addressed in FA as they should be.
