Carolina sticking with Cam

One has to ask, why in holy hell did cam wait so long (again) to have surgery?  Just really bad timing for all parties.

Better question. Why aren't people more upset at Cam for lying about being fully healed only to injury himself worse?

Part of the reason we're in the position we are is because he lied, and the coaches and medical staff were to blind to see that he was still hurt are responsible as well.

He contributed to the problem we are in.

I don’t see the downside here. If Cam comes back and proves he can last a few more years, we are good. If he comes back and immediately goes down, we are in the running for Lawrence or whoever.

The downside of this scenario is Cam comes back and wins 6 games or so. Then what?  Sign him?  Move up to draft Fields or TL?  It puts the "process" back a full year.

For me, I tend to post anything I think is relevant or anything that people would likely find interesting. On Twitter, the common disclaimer is "retweets are not endorsements". Same here.

For example, I could say I believe the Saints will win the Super Bowl this year. Sure as hell doesn't mean I want that to happen. Just means that's what I think is likely.

The difference should be obvious, but again, some folks don't seem to have the intelligence to distinguish those things.

In this situation, those who are Cam Newton die hards take anything less than praise and 100% commitment to Cam Newton as blasphemy.  They do not get the gray area or the business side.  They have to have good guys and bad guys--life is simpler that way.  And if they can make you into the villain, it makes them the hero---they are textbook.

I can't speak for everybody, but to me, that's what players do. Hell, I did it in high school. People I played alongside did it too. It's expected so that doesn't piss me off.

Now, if you want to talk about coaches who can easily see what the rest of us see but acting like they don't see it, then we can talk.

You only remember when we were talking about Newton being drafted. If you look back at posts where I compared to his work to the late Joel Buchsbaum, you'd see differently.

Either way, my whole take was it it wasn't race based. And truth be told, it wasn't even his takes. Nawrocki didn't do his own draft analysis. He just interviewed scouts and personnel people. and like with reporters today, some of them had agendas.

I'm guessing you never got a chance to read Buchsbaum's old draft profiles. I still have some in my library. Those sounded like they came directly from a professional scout.

You're still willing to die on that hill lol?
