Lol and you can trust what comes out of the individuals mouth? Yeah good luck with that, u can't trust what anybody says until it happens. That's what nobody understands anymore.

My thoughts on the entire team building has changed A LOT over the past number of months...everything started changing quickly the moment Ron was out the door.  I fully expected Marty to follow...that hasn't happened yet.  I didn't expect to land Rhule, certainly didn't expect to get Brady.  Didn't expect Cam to wait so long to have his surgery, and didn't know before the end of the season that there would be a league wide QB carousel.

Now that all of that is known, we can start to form new possibilities.  With new information, those three points that I mentioned are going to change.  Not for everyone, but for most of us.  Some never ever want Cam to leave, retirement or otherwise, some want him out the door immediately, some want a new direction, some want more of the same....but my thoughts on the future of that position and team have changed a lot.

When all of this was coming down the pike, I wanted Cam to play out his deal, see where he is health wise, and then talk about future contracts or not coming from the Panthers.  That has changed, with Olsen leaving, Luke leaving, our dead cap adding up, and our team looking worse and worse every day.  Now, I what want has changed, I no longer think that having Cam here does anything good for the team, other than make some fans happier....until the losing starts.

What I think will happen:  Cam is cut or traded, but the timing on the surgery has put the team in a bind.  He can't work out for the team, which means he can't work out for other teams, which means he can't pass a physical.  But in the end I think he is traded.

What I want to happen:  Trade Cam if at all possible to a team of his choosing, if not cut him loose and let him go find his way.  Play Grier through the year, while signing no expensive free agents, taking all dead money possible on the chin this year, extending Moton and front loading the contract, and see what we have in Grier, maybe he can be a long term backup?  Address the lines, and attempt to build this teams depth as best as possible.  Solve your obvious QB issue next season.

What is the best for the team:  What I laid out in what I want to happen.

With all the options that are expected to be out there, this offseason is an absolutely sh-tty time to try and trade a quarterback.

If the Panthers do want to trade Newton, circumstances have most definitely not fallen in their favor.

This is just them trying to drum up trade interest

WFNZ talking about it now.  Said their sources down the street have told them the Panthers have recieved 0 phone calls and 0 teams have shown any interest despite what some other rumors that have been circulating

This was always the case. Nobody is trading anything for a 31 year old QB who hasn't been healthy in 2 years.

I understand what you're saying

but Burrow had the chance to tell the Bengals i dont want to play for you! (he didn't)

Either setting up change with in the Bengals franchise or a trade to get him to a better franchise

lying at this point makes little sense if hes concerned about his future

But nothing will really surprise when it comes to Millionaires and Billionaires

Lets have this conversation after March 18th. So many people think they know, truthfully no one knows but Mr. Tepper and Matt Rhule. The info I had came from a previous employee, so that is dated as well. I would take any reports before March 18th with a grain of salt and subject to change.

Oh absolutely, while it is leaning one way who truly knows what will happen. Until we get to week 1 anything could change or take place

I'm completely ok with this.  If he's healthy and fits bradys offense we can resign, tag, whatever this offseason, if he breaks this season then we head for another top 10 pick and move on.  Anything Under a first for him wouldn't be worth it, and since I don't think that's happening, I don't see us going that direction.  I can't remember who pointed it out, but I think Luke Kuechly's retirement solidified cam staying because while the fanbase could absorb his loss this offseason, losing both in the same offseason would result in a ghost town of a stadium next season and they still need to sell tickets.

What makes it difficult is that the NFL is a huge factory of lies mixed with truth.

The Jaguars were absolutely keeping Jalen Ramsey right up to the point they traded him.

Lance Briggs declared that he'd never play another snap for the Bears shortly before he signed his long term extension.

And the Panthers were perfectly happy with their receiving corps right at the moment when they signed Keyshawn Johnson.

it's been said, and it's true, that the most effective liars are the ones who mix lies with truth. That applies here. And what makes it even worse is that sometimes it's not a lie. Someone just changed their mind.

In this league, nothing is ever certain to happen until it actually does.

Look y'all, I've been as big of a Cam Newton fan as anyone....but Ian Rappaport has been so inconsistent and downright wrong with his hot takes in the past, and with no official word coming directly from the team, I'd recommend taking this with a grain of salt.

And even if Rappaport's statement has some truth to it, the Panthers are probably saying all things sunny side up with Cam right now to drive up his value. "We want to keep him, he's getting as healthier and healthier, we're not considering a QB in the first round." Of course the team is going to say all these things in the offseason. There is zero benefit not to say anything other than positive statements about Cam at this stage in the offseason.
