Change of direction has shown to be the best drill for NFL success. Brown had the one of worst in the history of the combine for DL(i dont trust that website saying it was the worst). Roids/PEDs are used in college sports, just facts. Again no idea on Brown, but odds are he owned a few guys that where juiced up.

You sure that is the hill you want to die on? This is the top 30 Three Cone times from 2000-2020. So, what is that....5 or 6 out of 30 that were a success? Are you really gonna call that a strong predictor of NFL success?

So that list Cox and Donald in the top three, the two best DT going now...could even add Watt to make three out of four. Not going to debate on whos successful, cause thats a never-ending one. NOW do the ones around Browns' 8.22 and see whos list is better......... I dont even have to look.

Side note- That website is clunky, (I know I listed it.) Still no way with all the HUGE NT guys that Brown is the worst one in history, not a chance. Something happens that upsets it when you click on the categories.

Back to 3-Cone hill. Again its my favorite drill when compared to all others, of course its not a end all be all, nothing is. This guy puts it into words better than I can-

Quote

The 3-cone drill is the real MVP of the NFL combine. A slow 3-cone is the kiss of death for almost every position besides offensive line in the NFL. Why, you ask? Because the ability to turn and accelerate quickly and efficiently is one of the key tenets of football. It’s a defensive end turning the corner on a tackle, a safety breaking on a corner route, and a running back cutting upfield. Unsurprisingly, Pittsburgh's Le’Veon Bell ran the 11th-best 3-cone of any running back in the past 10 years, at 6.75 seconds, and he was the only back among the top 30 to weigh over 220 pounds (he was 230). Cornerback Darrelle Revis ran a 6.56 cone at 204 pounds back at his pro day in 2007. If I had to pick one drill to look at, it’s this one.

Here are few links to chew on-

Bill is the goat and I think hes Herniay bad when it comes to drafting, but he pays attention to 3-cone on all players. I use to have a good link on late round OLmen with good 3-cone and its correlation to good times, but I can not find it in my folder. The success rate was much higher.

Lastly here is a good chart on what you want to see. Being close on this looks bad for top ten hopeful. I didnt want Brown to blow-up the combine, cause he for sure would have gone. But in turn he failed and thus I have to drop him, especially with that horrendous 3-cone......

    • Respectfully, I completely disagree. Last year we were:  32nd in Sacks. 32nd in Turnovers.  32nd in Rushing TDs allowed  29th in Scoring.  We were absolutely atrocious on defense last year and that was with a full stable of weapons in Derek Brown, Frankie Luvu and Brian Burns that played all 17 games.  Using yards per game as a metric to guage our success lacks the context that because our offense was so inept teams were not driving the length of the field, they were starting at their 40-50 yard line.  This year, our Defense ranks:  31st in Sacks. Tied for 19th in Turnovers  31st in Rushing TDs allowed 32nd in Scoring  His defense fails to get pressure, fails to turn the ball over and fails to stop the run. Three things you absolutely have to do to be successful in the NFL.  Denver meanwhile has not missed a beat without him.  If another team wants to hire him as a HC and the Panthers get two 3rds for it I'll wish him the best and pack his bags myself.
