At 7 we should be guaranteed one of the studs.

From a pure fan watching experience I would love just to watch Simmons be used all over the field for the next 10 years.  Though the smart pick is either Brown or Okudah.

I would probably go Brown or Simmons, or trade down.  Not sure Okudah is going to be of great help for awhile.  If no Dline, the teams are going to continue to run down our throats, plus, we have no pass rush beyond blitz packages and both those situations leave our CB's in bad shape.

Trade down w Oakland and getting 12 and 19 for our first 2 picks, could net us Kinlaw and one of the OT's.  No immediate superstar, but great blocks in a rebuild

The combine is one of several pieces of the puzzle for a evaluators.

Brown’s 40 time was lax, but he looked great in several other drills.

He’s put elite play on tape, week in and week out. I think folks need to pump the brakes in terms of considering him a non top-10 pick now.

Simmons, on the other hand, performed as I expected. I would say he’s exceeded my expectations, but my expectations were sky high.

It’s a bit of a skills competition, in essence. Measurements and situational drills. You put brown in front of a G or C, he generally destroys them.

There will be some buzz over the next few days, and then things will reset.

It’s entertaining to watch. But I’ve never put a lot of stock into the combine. It’s become a spectacle, and many of those who cover it on Twitter are snarky dickbags.

Have to agree with you. Brown has shown enough on tape that he could’ve skipped the Underwear Olympics and still go top 10. It’s nauseating how talking heads will automatically downgrade a guy based on a “failed” Combine. If the guy goes up against the best and dominates on tape that’s good enough for me

This level of communication ability is likely the result of a family tree that looks like a telephone pole.

You felt something . You went with it . lol

& says the guy who cries like a baby when everyone don’t agree with him . Once again exposing your insecurities . It’s okay we can be friends one day .

Yeah, when virtually every draftable SEC OL is saying he was their toughest match up that pretty much says it all.

When DTs start running routes or defending passes regularly then a 40 time might matter. Brown is a beast and if he is there at 7 we should not even hesitate to draft him as he can compete right away for a starting role and his brute power while he refines his hand technique and watches tape like a pro not a college player. His ceiling is quite high.

A lot will depend on the other moves we make in free agency and the draft. Brown, Simmons, Okudah, Wirfs, Jeudy, etc, etc. All those guys would likely be day one starters and that will check a box for us. You have to consider that we just have so many holes to fill at this point that getting a starter is going to be a boost, no matter at what position.

I agree we definitely should prioritize the lines but I wouldn't be upset at any of those other selections either. I can remember being upset with the Luke pick(we had Beason at the time) and the CMC pick(did not think we would be able to utilize him effectively, nor did I view it as a huge need) but it worked out in the long run. I don't think the issue will be us taking one guy over another at #7, it will end up being that we failed in the 2nd-7th rounds and in free agency. For me, that was what happened this past draft class.

I really want Simmons, but we really need Brown. Going to be a tough decision.

If they're both there it really shouldn't be. Brown all day everyday. Simmons would just be fighting blockers all game long with our current DT situation. LB just doesn't really matter unless you have guys in front of them to keep blockers off of them. Just see Luke and Bobby Wagner last year. Easily the two best MLBs in the game, but they were both on two of the worst defenses in the league because their DLs were trash.

Coverage/field general type LBs are devalued in today's NFL. We need to wake up and realize that and stop throwing so many resources at the position. We gave Shaq a big money contract, gotta look elsewhere at #7. One big money deal plus a #7 overall pick is just too much investment at the position, especially when our trenches are a disaster on both sides of the ball and there will almost certainly be some very good options to address that at #7.

Anyone else find it odd that we have only met with 4 guys at the combine?   Maybe there is more unreported.  But even though Hurney is there it seems like there is a change in philosophy with Rhule at the helm.  Playing things close to the vest right now.

Met with Jeudy, Amik Robertson CB, Brown, and Yasir Durant OT.

This draft is really falling into the team's favor.

Highly likely 3 QBs go #1 - #6, possibly 4. Defense needs a booster shot, and Simmons/Brown/Okudah can do that. If DET & NYG both go defense (I'm expecting Jedrick Wills Jr to go to NYG but wouldn't be surprised to see them go after Simmons or Okudah), we still get whomever wasn't picked. Worst case scenario and all 3 are gone? Oh hai Javon Kinlaw

Yep. We should be able to land a stud of a prospect at #7.
