I could see us trading Cam to the Raiders along with our 2nd rounder to get the 19th pick in the 1st round.

7 and 19 would yield a couple good players

That would be a trade where I can see the appeal for the Raiders.  They basically maintain a 1st round pick given the top heavy talent in this year's draft and get Cam.

We move up from 38 to 19 which puts Cam's value according to charts as a late 2nd.  I can see the Raiders asking to tag on a 6th but I think that's actually quite a reasonable trade.   7 is likely to get us a franchise building block, 19 will net a VERY good player, another potential building block.

Well in a year that we should have closed the talent gap between CAR and NO, because of all their win now trades left them with only a couple picks. the Panthers got significantly less value from 6 picks than the Saints did with just picks 49 and 105.

Acceptance of poor performance is why this team is in the position it’s in.

Not going to nitpick single years, but its not about accepting poor performance.   Our actual picks if you average them out, do about as well as most other teams.  The issue it seems is the lack of understanding that teams are generally better off with a large number of picks because the majority of picks on average are not going to work out.

I hope we don't trade up to get anyone, but I wouldn't mind trading back to get a larger haul of picks.  Hurney is not much better or worse at picking players, his bigger issue is something like trading up to get a guy like Little.  Little may work out, but the odds are he won't. But we essentially spent two picks on him.  IMO, the teams that have been the most successful over the years drafting have done it with larger numbers of picks, and not trading up to go after their guy.

I agree with all that. Unfortunately, we have had multiple GMs who fail to understand this. It’s a major issue in the subpar results.

I know everyone is falling in love with their guy, but this is where trade down and get at least 3 more top 100 picks. This team needs a lot and needs more thAn just one player.

Everyone keeps mentioning trading down to acquire more picks. Ask yourselves, when has Marty Hurney ever done that? Even outside of the First Round? Maybe one time? If that? Ask yourselves, how does Marty draft? What does he normally do every single draft? What are his tendencies? He stays at his pick unless he trades up because he somehow over values players that other teams simply do not want, and to make matters worse he trades UP for that player and it blows up in his face time and time again. There are so many examples of him doing this but I cannot think of a single time hes traded down to acquire more picks. We are either stuck at 7 or we are mortgaging the future to trade up. That's Marty Hurney. The GM and expert talent evaluator of the Carolina Panthers and unfortunately we are stuck with him.

Marty will do what Tepper and Rhule tell him to do.

He traded up for Greg Little last year, he barely played and when he did it wasn't very good. Sure the jury is still out on him but this is yet another and the most recent possible example. Who was our owner last year? Tepper. I'm sure Rhule will have a say so but Marty is the one scouting most of the talent. Rhule has never scouted NFL talent before. Scouting high school players vs NFL draft ready players is a pretty big difference. There is SO much more that goes into the draft process. Hardly none of the coaches Rhule brought in have much draft experience either. I guarantee Rhule will lean heavily on Hurney trying to learn as much as he can from him. That's the main reason Tepper kept Hurney around. So, if you dont think Hurney will have any influence in this draft you're fooling yourself.

Little not a good example, he did fine until injuries came up. He went from guarding 18-21 year old kids to 24-40 year old men. That isn't exactly easy to transition to, why do you think the top LTs always are gone before pick 5?

Again. That draft was LAST YEAR. Of course it is to early to judge Little but so far hes started his career off just about the same as every other bust Marty has traded up for. I cant fast forward 3 years into the future to give Little the proper time he deserves. And I also wouldnt say Little did "fine"  when he did get on the field. A 6th rounder (Daley) looked a lot better and more polished than the 2nd rounder we traded up for. But if you like we can take a stroll down memory lane and look back at all the terrible players Marty traded up for that didn't work out. So far, with what Little has shown it's just more of the same from ol' Marty.
