Exactly.

It sucks to hear, but getting rid of Cam Newton is simply the best thing to do.  Newton doesn't deserve to waste the last bit of his potential, if it's still there, on an underwhelming team.

It's gonna take time.  And who knows?  Maybe it doesn't work out.  Maybe Tepper really doesn't know what he's doing, or Rhule was a bad hire, or whatever.  But we need to give it a chance.  I think it's quite obvious that this team, from the hire of Rhule to everything that has been said by those in the front office, that this team is planning for a drastic rebuild.

And let's be honest.  A year from now, if we have the No. 1 overall pick and Trevor Lawrence is right there for the taking, who is going to be complaining?  He is likely going to be one of the greatest QB prospects of all-time.  It will be worth it.  We just gotta gut it out and hope we end up with the number one pick.

I hate to say that because I don't genuinely want to see my team suck... but being realistic here, it's for the best.  Talent-wise our team is straight garbage.

Great post.  I have said all along the crappy thing about this is timing.  Cams age, his contract, his injury, surgery etc almost everything is hitting at the wrong time.  If he was 2/3 years in on a 5 year deal then of course we keep him.   We would just be squandering whats left of him trotting him out during a rebuild.

As to Trevor, if we somehow manage our way into drafting him not one person will say anything about cam.  Vegas has us as one of 4 or 5 teams that are competing for the cellar and most of those will have their qb in place.  Haskins, murray, Jones and Burrow.  Point is if we are going to tank for a qb then now is the most perfect and opportune time to do it.

Just quit quoting I realize you’re the only goof that is beating the drum this hard About inaccurate reporting and your doing so by slightly changing what I originally said.

ian rapport has been guessing since last season on the cam situation and has been wrong time and time again, starting with the cam was expecting to be back after the 49ers game and you’re the only poster trying to shield him from criticism

I really don’t understand why I’m even going back and forth with some loss fool who defended that Nolan piece on cam pre draft.....what a joke

Because you're losing...like usual.

You really have to be one ignorant person to think a respected national writer like Rappaport is going to just be "guessing" on the situation and not have talked to numerous people about it.  Thats not how things work.  They just dont create stories out of thin air.

Hey!!! You realize that my wife gave me one of those mail-in carbon dating kits for my last birthday?  The Fire Marshal refused to allow the baker to put that number of candles on a cake.

Away from the very poor attempts at humor.  The problem with this whole situation is that it is like a soap opera.

Whenever anybody says anything involving Cam, whether it is somebody whose paycheck comes from the Panthers or somebody on this board, let the spinning begin.  Did you see that.....Tepper shifted his weight when he said they would evaluate Cam when he is healthy.  That clearly means...........

The reality is it means nothing.  People are trying to piece together a puzzle based on pieces that may not even be part of the same puzzle.

I know what I want, but it is based solely on the limits of what I know of a situation with a ton of variables.  I freely accept what I would like to see out of this situation and what I will see may very well be vastly different.

The Panthers organization probably knows what it wants, but be it moving forward with Cam, trading him, or playing him for one more season to evaluate and figure out what they are going to do going forward, the same variables apply.  They don't even have the answer, so the whole mess is very up in the air......and they know more than I do.

Cam probably knows what he wants, but again, variables that he probably does not have the answer to greatly shape the outcome.

This horse was beaten to death a long time ago.  If I am going to spend time wringing my hands over trying to figure out the future, especially when it involves something that even those in the middle of probably do not have a solid handle on, it will be the lottery numbers or where to invest our savings.  This situation has fewer variables than the lotteries, but at least the variables pertaining to lotteries are accepted variables.  Too many people think that if they spin words or speculate long enough, they will turn is variables into constants, when only the football field can do that (and it may not, either).

Then again, my namesake's favorite saying is "I know nothing."  On this situation, I am willing to accept that and wait.

Oh, and BTW, what is wrong with The Onion?  The reporting is just about as accurate as anybody else these days, and it at least provides some entertainment value.  How can you go wrong with a headline like this: Increased Airtime Of Chantix Commercials Results In Ray Liotta Qualifying For Democratic Debate?

I agree with everything you’ve said, there’s only one guy in here painting a picture as if I’m mad at these best writers because of it.

I’m disappointed that some of the more reputable writers aren’t reporting more than speculating, and it is a problem in journalism, it has been but I respect the hustle.

than there’s credibility, I think it’s as clear as day we won’t know the plan until cam is healthy and does a physical, so with the overwhelming amount of reports that he’ll be traded or he's gone, if he’s on the team come next season what does that do for the credibility of the reporters saying he’s gone? It hurts it, which is my point and I think that’s some of the op point.
very little writers are addressing the numerous comments from Rhule, cam or tepper that actually lean towards his retention in 2020.

I looked at Ian as a step below Adam Scheffer, who hasn’t touch this story since October of last year, and Ian already whiffed on his reporting of Cam’s injury status last year, so yeah he’s going to lose a lot of credibility if the opposite happens

Reporters surmise all the time. Sometimes they don't have real sources. The panthers have been pretty quiet. You are correct they will still talk to folks they trust. A trusted fellow reporter, an ex nfl exec, a buddy who just knows football. But is still opinion.

They are rarely going to put their reputation on the line with something this major without talking to multiple people.  Sure its an opinion but its an educated one.  And they are not just going to make poo up

You didn’t answer the question, that was a hell of a dodge neo

Show me the link to where he said it for context.  He probably had people telling him Cam was getting better etc.  Who knows anything could have happened but there is no way he just randomly pulled that game out of his ass saying that is when cam would be back

An educated guess is still a guess right or wrong?
You literally just defined what a guess is
