NCFans pre combine/FA mock

Trade:

Cam- this is going to hurt but its going to happen.  Panthers trade him to the Chargers for a 2020 3rd and a 2021 pick (1st if he re-signs with them after next year, 2nd if not, 3rd if he doesnt play atleast half a season)

Cut:

Poe

Gano

Panthers sit at +/- 70 mil in Cap Space

Free Agency

Mario Addison

Tre Boston

CMC- Panthers extend him to a mega deal after he threatens a hold out.

New FA

Carl Nassib- good athlete, former Penn State DE who fits that "Temple Tough" moto that Rhule coined.

Teddy Bridgewater- Former connection with Joe Brady.  Teddy helps bridge the gap in the rebuild unless he explodes into the franchise QB.

Draft

Trade Down

Colts send pick 34 to move up from 13 to 7 for Herbert.

#13: Andrew Thomas- in a stacked OT class, Thomas falls in our lap even after the trade down.  Joe Brady's offense will be so dependent on the OL and theor ability to block as a unit with no help.

#34: Neville Gallimore- Freak Athlete DT to help the interior.

#38: Noah Igbinoghene- Freak athlete CB who is coming off a Good season in only his 2nd season at CB and even Defense.  He fills the hole left behind from Bradberry.

#69: Denzel Mims- Panthers take advantage of a stacked deep WR class and getting a familiar face for Rhule. Panthers new offense will be 3-4 WR sets.

#71 Solomon Kindley-  did I mention how import the OLwill be for this offense.  Depth has been a MAJOR issue with this OL the last few years.  Kindley fills depth but could be groomed to replace Trai Turner down the road in this rebuild

103 (From Chargers) Akeem Davis-Gaither- App State LB.  Good athlete but a tweener.

121 Anfernee Jennings- reminds me a little of Mario Addison, would help fill the DE rotation.

164 & 198 BPA

Panthers fill multiple needs through the draft and pick up a 2021 1st or 2nd. Also letting Bradberry walk adds an additional potential rd3 comp pick for 2021

I like how this pumps in players on both lines /fronts. drafting need without reaching is a good thin.  The Bridgewater acquisition might be a little hard to fathom about but I could see us getting a vet QB for stability.  The conditions you suggest around trading Cam may be close to accurate. And makes the best out of a bad situation.

thanks for posting this.

I'd be curious to see what Bridgewater gets on the open market. There is a chance he gets more money than Cam is due to make in 2020.

thats the main thing I was thinking when I read that post. If you're going to get rid of cam to get Bridgewater you'll end up paying even more money for QB . He better be more than just a stopgap for 20+ mil  i doubt hed accept less

Everything else is good, idk about the cmc extension just yet and signing teddy would be counter productive if we ship cam off, just defeats the purpose of moving on from cam for another lesser talented stop gap

I agree on the Cam thing.. he said he’d play at 20 mil.. Bridgwater will want a 2-3 year contract.. going rate is 30 mil a year.. I say we give Cam one more year!! Does good awesome if not well maybe we will be in a high draft number to get Fields or Lawrence!!

If we traded Cam and paid Bridgewater $25+ mil, it would really just solidify how dumb our owner is.

You lost me at Bridgewater. That move seems like a loss with the cap and a lot to pay a guy with a short resume in Peyton's offense.

I've also worked several trade scenarios and the picks between 7 and 13 and it's likely the top 3 tackles will be gone to Arizona, Cleveland and the Jets. All of them need a tackle to protect their young QBs. That would leave Bechton who has the skills but there's some rumblings he doesn't make the analytical grade.

You're right about the trade value for Cam I think and that makes sense as to what a team would likely pay in picks. It just sucks for us on timing that he needs a prove it year to increase value but will also be a FA at the end of it.

Agree with Cam trade (if LA offered it). I just don't think anyone will offer it. To echo other people replacing a proven franchise QB on a cheap deal with an unproven injury prone guy who has never done anything but costs more just makes no sense. They need to maximise Cams trade value by letting him earn his next contract.

I'm ok with Thomas but I don't think they will because that would be conceding that Little is a bust. Even though many fans think this, I bet MH doesn't.

Gallimore is a rusher not a run defender, so I would be ok with giving him a miss. Igbin is an athlete first and foremost rather than a skilled CB. Not sure I want a second Donte Jackson.

The last 4 I like especially where you are taking them late in the draft.

So i guess i would draft the same positions but change the 1st and 2nd player picks.
