Classic Hurney 2nd rounder. Small school? Check. Local kid? Check.

I don't have anything against small school prospects (except for OL and to a little lesser extent DTs) I just really worry when Hurney tries to be the smartest guy in the room on draft day. That's how we end up trading a future 1st for Everett Brown or the future #33 overall pick for Armanti Edwards or taking a small school OL in the 2nd in Amini Silatolu.

Or trading a 3rd that could have been Terron Armstead or Keenan Allen for Joe Adams.

Takes me back to the visits to Boone to visit Armanti.

The kid from LR is a player.  He stood out a the SR Bowl.  A third rounder?

doesn't matter, hurney will draft him in the 2nd. LET ME INTRODUCE YOU TO THIS YEAR'S "PROJECT"

Hey now, we drafted Rashaan Gaulden, right?

(yeah) :poison:

Wasn't he drafted to play the big nickle/buffalo nickle?  If I remember correctly, they didn't try him exclusively at safety until nothing panned out in FA, then tried to split his duties and found out he was horrible at both.

You misunderstood. That was a discussion about Gaulden’s value.

Most agreed a Buffalo Nickel was too steep for his “talents”

I was going on the notion that Ron was infamous for passing up safeties in the draft and that Gaulden wasn't drafted to be a pure safety.

Since Ron is gone, there may be a chance a safety is drafted this year...possibly?  Heck, I've only been barking up that tree for years now.   Good thing I didn't hold my breath or I wouldn't be typing this post!
