Dak Prescott

I'm on the keep Cam if healthy train. If we find out the worst of news, do we give Dak a visit? With 2020 honestly being lost no matter what, we could frontload the crap out of the deal and make an offer the cowboys would not be able to match. If you get Burrow, Fields, Trevor Lawrence… You don't know what you're getting... But Dak has had success in the league, two division titles including a 13-3 season... He has done almost as much as Cam minus the SB and MVP.

P.S, don't take this as a cut Cam for Dak… This is a (IF) we decide to move on, does the team consider it? I think this is a option nobody thinks about, 40 million average a year is ugly, but if we decide to tank 2020 away, we could put 70 million or something crazy on 2020 then it wouldn't be so bad. Even if Cam stays in 2021, it will be at a similar number, so it's not like the number is going to be pretty. Dak has shown more promise then TUA and Herbert... I would only take Burrow over him. At some point not everybody on the roster can be young, this team needs a leader.

I would not be willing to bring Dak on at the price he seems to be interested in.  I have a relatively high opinion of him, but I don't think he is an elite QB.  I'd place him at the bottom of the top third, or top of the middle third of QBs.  He has talent.

The problem is he is very hot and cold.  And he often seems to cool off in games when he is needed most.  He has yet to prove he is going to lead a team in clutch games.  That may not be his fault, as the Cowboys as a group seem to fall into that trap.

I think he has the potential to overcome that hurdle.  But, I am not willing to bet $35M a year or whatever the number du jour is on that with him.

1) Dak is going to demand for at least $40 Mil/year

2) He's had a Pro Bowler RB all 4 seasons (his stats dropped in '17 after Zeke was suspended)

3) He's had a Pro Bowler WR for the past 2 seasons (his stats dropped early '18 when he had no one to throw to)

4) He's had an Pro Bowl o-line protecting him all 4 seasons (his stats dropped when any of his Pro Bowl o-linemen were injured)

I like Dak, but he is not worth $40 Mil/year. At least not with this rebuilding team.

I say stick with Cam '20 & see who's available in the draft '21.

I said that he would only be considered if Cam is deemed not healthy.

This is why the whole Cam is gonna be traded or cut stuff, to me, is ridiculous.... because the Panthers do NOT have a QB, do NOT have a young guy in the waiting, and are NOT in a position to draft a top guy ..... SO it's which free agent do we bring in as a stop gap or hope?? when one of the QB's to consider is already on the roster and if healthy is the one you go with.  Then worst case scenario the team is right where they are in 2021 and most likely could draft their guy then.

Any hoo... time will see how it all plays out.  Just not looking forward to being back in the "who's our QB gonna be hell" which we are kind of at now with the Cam situation but again, that is why to me it makes no difference if that starts this season or next and why I am rolling with Cam.
