With as many states that have legal weed......people still smuggle it??

People smuggle ciggarettes, and they are legal.  Legalization won't stop smuggling, it will just change the nature of it.  If you can get it cheap in one place, and sell it for a high markup, you can make a lot of money, legal or not.  And you can avoid paying taxes on it.

It's Texas. It wouldn't matter how much or little you had, whether it was personal or for sale, you are getting the book thrown at you.

There is a decent movement in the state to lessen pot laws. A law making simple possession a fine and no jail time got shot down by the Senate. But for simple possession they write you a ticket for possession of drug paraphernalia which is $500. Texas is still archaic but the movement to decriminalize weed is everywhere.

As an aside NC has great laws for 1/2 oz or less.

This is going to be federal, not state, but yes, you are correct.

Pretty stupid to face 20 years for less than 500k when you have his kind of income potential.

Yeah, that would be a fed charge. I just wanted to take a shot at Texas.

Legalization will change smuggling because the benefits of doing it will be significantly reduced.

Change yes, eliminate no.

And while the benefits of it will be reduced, but so might the penalties.  Lower benefits, but lower risk.

Yeah, that's basically what I mean. Because you won't exactly be getting rich off of sending legally obtained goods to a place where the prices are simply higher. It will be interesting to see how that all evolves when marijuana drops off the Schedule I list in the next 10-15 years(and it will).

See this is why you get a decoy to make this runs, maybe a soccer mom or a business man....no one would look twice.

Get you a soccer mom to do it, and pack it all into whatever type of SUV those types are driving now with some Texas tags.

He’s got too much money to be making these runs himself. Bruh, I would’ve been a wreck as soon as I seen those blue lights.

Ya, if you can pay a driver to accompany you and then try and buy them off to take the heat. You can afford to pay runners.

Yeah, why would you drive in the car when you’re the guy who likely put up all the money. Driving through Texas is next level dumb as well. Pay a friend $10k to keep his mouth shut and not risk jail time and to drive the longer way. Fly to LA and party with strippers and don’t take any risk.

Yep. I’m quite sure he took 10. He should’ve drove up a bit taking 40 or 66. Driving so close to the border isn’t very smart. Needed to be up further mainland

Oh well. He’s going to jail

Aggie?  Can you explain your street smartness in this particular area of street smarts?

In KY it's 4 or less, thankfully.  Unless the law has changed since the last time I stood before a judge up there.
