Tanking isn't a bad strategic move for the future at all. especially in the NFL where you are sloted in the draft according to your win loss record. If your going to field a team that isnt likely to make the playoff and could net you say  the next payton manning or von miller, zion williams in nba terms, that sets the stage for a superstar.A big time jersey seller, long term success...why you cant follow that mindset I dont understand.. Like a few moral victories vs a team that are resting their starters helps win you a championship or put butts in seats is beyond me.

Probably because it's a bigger roster than NBA and that you're never one player or one tank away from a championship.

Tanking doesn't guarantee anything. Ask Hornets fans how tanking works out.

Being mediocre is like being stuck in purgatory in relation to the draft.  You need to be pretty good at drafting in the bottom half of the rounds to be continuously successful, but to get there you have to start at or near the top to set it up.  How do you get to the top of the draft when you are rebuilding if you are not already there?  Class?

When have the hornets tanked and thats part of there problem... their roster is always right at below the 9th seed of reaching they playoffs so they are stuck with drafting 12- or 13th. Drafting miles bridges and cody zellers instead of being in the top 4 zion williams,  ja morant  those guys are superstars and you need more than one to win a championship. Which is the reason kemba isnt here now. we didnt get him any help but a bunch of joes. Same principle applies here in the NFL. The more super stars and elite talents the better your chances.

The year they got MKG instead of Anthony Davis. They tanked and they got Kody at 4 I believe. Hornets tried that strategy and the ball never bounced their way despite trying not to win for draft position.

Heck, Anthony Davis didn't even stay in NO, nor will Zion. Nobody is going to want to play for teams that aren't serious. We don't want the #1 pick just to end up sucking anyways and not having an at least mediocre chance of winning.

That’s how your coming off

That’s because I dont have to prove my support of the team to anyone. I’ve been on this forum for years. My 13 year old self cried when we lost Super Bowl 38.

What upsets me is that the likes of Jake Delhomme has been treated with more dignity  respect than Cam Newton. He carried this team to a SB, has been taken advantage of by his HC, and never given the real accessories he needs to be successful. He has been slandered by the media and pundits for years. Someone should stick up for him and I certainly don’t mind doing it on the internet.

Cam doesn't need anymore to stick up for him, this isn't preschool.   Cam has all the respect he needs from those who know and love him.  Nobody worth listening to cares what his detractors think.  Certainly Cam doesn't.  Maybe you shouldn't either.

I think that's my thing with Cam too. He is legitimately one of the best football players, not just QBs, in the NFL. Yet, he's treated like a JAG by most because he's been on bad teams most of his career. And on one of his worst teams, he took them to the Super Bowl off a 15-1 regular season. That's not a fluke!

Still say if the team was just gonna ignore the offense for 6 years, why draft a QB number one overall?
