CMC Trade Talk (Might as well get it out there)

This is a good discussion, and a discussion that should be had given what the data has shown us about RBs in this league. I said it before, but those who threw around the “emotional” and “fan boy” label when it came to our QB, seem to be emotional and/or “fan boys” when it comes to CMC. It’s funny, because these are supposed to be the “good” and “objective” posters.

While not out of the realm of possibility, trading CMC is unlikely AFAIK.

Nobody should lose any sleep over it, I doubt CMC is.

Nobody should lose sleep over it, but it is a worthy conversation given what we know about RBs in this league. It’s not stirring the pot, or being childish, etc. It’s a valid conversation, given that CMC could hold out this offseason, and he’d be smart to. Is it smart to make him the highest paid RB in this league knowing a rebuild is potentially on the horizon?

No one should be losing sleep over any of this, honestly.

Yessir.  The intent was the discussion of team building and it's funny to see the responses that are the short quips when I didn't even waver on one side or another in presenting the notion of trading CMC.

Happy there is good talk in here.  Actually quite interesting and brings out some sides I didn't expect certain posters to have (for better or worse!)

This is a good thread, bro. Honestly, those who are upset are just being emotional. Funny given the fact that so many have said they don’t get attached to players.

Seems like a legitimate discussion for a football forum during the off season.

Might not have a snowball's chance of happening, but why not consider the possibilities?

Not like there is a lot going on around here.

Bet a lot of Dallas Cowboy fans weren't too happy and were caught off guard when Herschel Walker was traded to the Vikings.

The discussion is premature but definitely valid if we are looking at next season without a qb and without the assets to go secure one, we just going to Barry Sanders cmc?

Why not? They did it with Cam, Smitty and Peppers.  Why should CMC be any different?

Because it doesn’t make sense, and handicaps us in building this team right. Why would we want to do that with CMC? Not only for his sake, but it obviously didn’t work for Cam, Smitty, and Peppers. Hell, atleast those players played in positions that have some longevity, and didn’t require the team to make them top paid at their positions

But the end the results are the same.  It's what the Panthers do, they stumble onto HOF talent and waste it trying to put a team around them.   It's what they've done since inception.  And as long as Hurney has his hands in it that's what they will continue to do.  You are trying to add reason and logic to the decision making process.  That's where you are getting off track.

I just want to be dominant on the DL.  Derrick Brown R1 could really be special for us.  Simmons has bust potential and I'd rather explore a Center add in R2 or 3.  I'm not expecting anything to fall how I want but it'd be nice to get a Brown (DT) Jefferson (WR) Hennessy (C) type haul.

If we go DT in the first I’m actually enamored with Kinlaw. I like him better as a pro than Brown.

While that’s true, it doesn’t have to remain so.

At the end of the day, I want CMC to stay. That boy is magical on the field. I want much of the offensive personnel to remain in place, as I feel we’re not far off in terms of where we need to be. I, especially, want to see what Brady can do with what we have and a few additions. All I’m saying is if rebuild is the plan, then let’s do that and do it right, or in our case, different than what we’ve done before.

CMC is a RB, they are hit more than any guy on the field generally.  Although he is shifty, we have control of him for 3 more years.  Let's see how it goes for 2 more and hope someone sane is pulling the triggers.  If he carries the load he did this season going forward, he won't be long for the league

They're mad so they want to make somebody else mad. If we're being brutally honest it's juvenile, babyish, and just plain dumb. You'd like to think adults are better than that, but I guess not.

I laughed so hard at this.

You only have several thousand condescending posts calling everyone under the sun "kid" for daring to disagree with you, especially on subjects involving a certain player who wears #1 :Eyes_Emoji_42x42:
