Yes--it is one of those lose-lose situations.  He deserves a raise, not a crown.

Yeah, I think you have to let him walk because we're walking dangerously towards a belief in sunken cost with him. Like we're so bad we have to resign him to a bad deal because we're so much worse at CB without him. Which is dumb because resigning could very well screw us up in 2-3 years rather than just a single year or two of major pain.

You pay good players there worth, (You dont always have to break the bank) all Bradberry did was hold down some of the best WRs in the NFL. People cried when Norman left, but all Bradberry did was just as good for longer then Norman. Ints are not the be all of CBs, if the other team dont throw your way you doing your job. JB not the fastest guy but he can play, im sure if he was running around trash talking ppl would like him better all he does is his job and let the # do the talking. Plus Carolina had him 4yrs on a 2nd rnd pay scale.

In ESPN's recent article predicting who could get the franchise tag (link) David Newton states he doesn't believe the Panthers will franchise Bradberry. Joe Person recently said the same thing.

There's not really anyone else worthy of it, so it sounds quite possible that the Panthers won't be tagging anybody this year.

If we were to run a 4-3 and retain Addison that would be huge..I just don't think we have the money and he's getting up there in age but he's consistent.

Bradberry is as good as gone though IMO.

I don't think we're keeping Addison, or Bradberry, or anybody else that's a UFA, honestly.

As Jordan Gross said, "not part of the five year plan".

I actually kinda wonder if they had waited until after Rhule was hired, would they have extended Shaq Thompson?

I don't see any reason why they wouldn't have extended Shaq honestly. He's just entering his prime playing age, and even if he's in his declining years as we enter our Super Bowl window he should still be playing at a pretty high level.

I completely understand needing to tear this thing down and get younger, but I don't think you sacrifice everything for that montra. I think anyone over 28 is really where you draw that line pretty firmly, and everyone in the 26 to 27 range is in that grey area where you really have to sit down and decide.

Part of me thinks, Luke told the front office of his plans midseason. Which led to Shaq getting his contract. It was actually on my birthday, Dec. 7 ....which I think was ironically the same week Ron was fired. He's had to have been factored in the long term plans regardless of coach, but that does pose a good question.

On Bradberry being gone....That's also, why I think we will go CB early (first 3 rounds). Donte was incredibly inconsistent but the talent is there. Hopefully it clicks 3rd year.

A Donte Jackson and Cole Luke combo doesn't exactly scream All-Pro ...or All-Anything for that matter.

I can't remember a time we've had this many holes at one time... Every level of the Defense, the O-Line, QB whirlwind, TE questions, Receiver depth (and lack of redzone target)... it's going to be a long season.

It appears in hindsight that would probably have happened anyway given the surprising Luke retirement.  I guess we can say we lucky with this time.
