Rappaport on the pending trade market for Cam

2016 and 2018. There was a year where he didn't hurt it in there.

"It's not a different injury if the same injury happens right after the initial injry"

I'm not following that logic. By that logic TD only tore his ACL once and Greg only broke his foot once. If you heal, then re-injure yourself in the same way, it's a new injury of the same kind. He has had 3 major injuries that require surgery in the past 4 years.

Either way, Cam hasn't looked like Cam for a full season since 2015, and that will be 5 years ago next year. That's half of Cam's career he won't have looked like himself. Like it or not, injuries have been the main contributing factor to that issue and because of that we need to consider moving on.

He didn’t have a season ending injury in 2016, missed no games.  The injury came in week 14, he was fine in 2016. 2018 looked really good until the recovery was demolished in like week 8 or 9 against the Bucs or Falcons (I forget which) and then TJ Watt’s spear tackle totally fuged his shoulder. And then the foot in 2019. So that’s two season ending injuries, with him looking good except the second half of ‘18 and the first two games of ‘19.  The number of injuries is semantics, but what I most disagree on is he hasn’t looked good since ‘15.  He only looked bad in the second half of 18 and the two games in 19, all due to the shoulder and foot respectively. Two different injuries.

Cam is older. What everyone fell in love with will never happen again.

We will not build this team around what Cam brings to the table now. His running and flipping days are over.

This team needs to be built to be great for years to come. Freeing up money and maybe a pick for him is one way to start.

We have seen the best of Cam and that Cam is not coming back IDGAF how many bionic shoulders and feet you give him. The longer this fan base continues to hold and cherish those memories, the harder it will be to move forward and work towards the goal, which is to contend for a title.

Why is anyone still believing Ian’s reporting? Dude has done a horrible job covering the cam situation.

that said I can only believe what I’ve heard from the 3 main people, Rhule, Tepper, and Cam. Hell of a smoke screen if the plan is to trade him after what has all been said by tepper.

that being said if cam is gone, cmc might be on the block as well, whether joe burrow or Lawerence or fields, it would take us having a top 2 pick in order for it to warrant signing cmc to the massive contract that’s coming for him.

It’s a big gamble that’s isn’t needed to be taken. Better to play cam this year, increase his value, than have the option of retaining or trading him next year if you can secure a top pick instead of banking on the unknown, if cam flops trade him at the deadline for whatever you can get, simple as that

Because Tepper seems hell-bent on making this HIS team. Cam isn't his QB.

Honestly, I'm concerned that we might have Dan Snyder v. 2.0 in Tepper.

Little early for that just yet.  Didn't Tepper buy the team too late in the offseason to do much his first year,  and, now he has  the Cam decision to make? Fairly unusual circumstances for any new owner.  Does look like he may be on the verge of blowing up the team and rebuilding,  May not be able to judge for another 2-3 years how he is. Do have to see if he learns from his mistakes.

Simple economics. The time value of money , it makes sense to trade cam if we’re going into a rebuild , cam is in a win now position and in win now terms we are one of the worst teams in the nfl .trade cam for a draft pick and save the money we would spend on him for the future . We’re going to lose the next two seasons and not spend anything worthy in free agency next two seasons , we will look for under valued players in free agency that can turn into the next best thing , sort of like gentlemen did . But in year 3 with all of our saved up cap space we explode in the market and sign big names

But why keep him now? He's not taking us to the SB. Why waste a year? And I'm not saying we go after a high QB. I'm saying we get the best value for Cam now and start rebuilding. Mainly Oline.

The real proble ... you know what? It's not a problem. Or an issue. It's just what it is.

And that is, diehard Cam Fans just don't want to let go. They are diehard football fans and diehard Panthers fans and for the first time since Smitty (if not ever) we've had a SUPERSTAR here. They wear their 1 jersey and thump their chest around friends, they dab, they love his fun antics, etc. He means the world to them and can't fathom him not being here and not being able to say "that's my quarterback". That's what really sparks these debates. Guys just want to live in Camland forever. But hey, if TheRed can come around and see a world without Newton, maybe others can too.
