Rappaport on the pending trade market for Cam

Cam is on the way out. It is clear as day. It’s just a matter of what we get.

The periphery CMC talk could be it’s own thread on RB usage and the contract expectations. I’m unsure about that whole scenario but whoa nelly are there some emotions in here on all sides. Yikes.

‘17 and ‘18 were the same injury, they just tried to rehab through it. Cam’s had two major injuries in his career, one just happened to come right on the heels of the other. Doesn’t make him injury prone. They were completely unrelated injuries.

2016 and 2018. There was a year where he didn't hurt it in there.

"It's not a different injury if the same injury happens right after the initial injry"

I'm not following that logic. By that logic TD only tore his ACL once and Greg only broke his foot once. If you heal, then re-injure yourself in the same way, it's a new injury of the same kind. He has had 3 major injuries that require surgery in the past 4 years.

Either way, Cam hasn't looked like Cam for a full season since 2015, and that will be 5 years ago next year. That's half of Cam's career he won't have looked like himself. Like it or not, injuries have been the main contributing factor to that issue and because of that we need to consider moving on.

If Cam is gone and we want the next franchise QB I am becoming more and more convinced now is the time. This fairy tale scenario of us navigating our way to the number one overall pick in 2021 is just that sadly. We were far and away the worst football team in the NFL and somehow the Redskins who utterly kicked our asses up and down the field are picking 3rd.

Unfortunately if we want to move up from 7th I don't think Cam with all the questions swirling around his health that we as an organization have only fueled even more will be enough. We will in all likelihood have to include another blue chip piece to seal the deal. Is it worth it? Hell if know. But we have to try. If we don't then we are not actually rebuilding, that's complacency.

(Any Cam-related thread)

ATL'ien Cam Newton: Cam is not leaving and if you think he is, you're not a Panthers fan

TheRed: If we get rid of Cam we have to get rid of McCaffrey too because he's not a QB and the only way to get a franchise QB is to trade your best player immediately

There. I just saved you a lot of clicks and a lot of trouble.
