The local media should be ashamed of themselves

If you are a Cam fan, you may want him to move on somewhere, where there is a chance to compete for a championship in the next 2-3 years. Currently, that is not us, I think we are 3 years out from competing for a title again.

By this logic why bother keeping valuable talent like CMC and DJ Moore? Why waste the prime and affordable years of our most talented players in the midst of a multiyear rebuild?

As much as I've been swayed to really wanting to keep him I think they are likely correct in their prediction. Nothing in the article is worthy of shame. It's just an inconvenient truth that people don't want to deal with. It's in the best interest of both parties involved.

True. I’ve been the biggest proponent of a full rebuild and aside from being labeled a racist since I like Lawrence a lot, my main reasoning is that I don’t think Cam will be here. Like you I don’t see a happy ending coming so I detail my thoughts on a full rebuild. I don’t see the positives for Cam playing through a one year deal. Amazing that Cam fans would want him to do that and risk getting hurt. No way can we with our current talent pool extend Cam until after 2020. That’s the riskiest thing Cam can do. A better team who wants to get over the hump (LAC, Chicago, Colts, etc.) taking a risk and at least giving him some sort of guarantee.

Are they in a contract year? Could the team benefit from trading them because their future and health is uncertain? You guys need to look at this from the team perspective not the player. Chances are no one will sign Cam for 35million a season, especially since he hasn’t finished a season in 2 years.

Well of course except when she tried really hard to get famous by making Cam out to be Harvey Weinstein and her skeletons came out.

To be fair, to my knowledge she never commented on what he said, it was fowler who wrote a dumb article praising her football knowledge.  He tried to be funny, he wasnt, but way too much was made over his comment.  He obviously didnt mean any disrespect

Charlotte Observer: Cam Newton and the Panthers’ inevitable breakup has never been more clear. The end.

Absolutely pathetic how the media in this town is openly fixated on the idea of the franchise’s greatest QB leaving and has been for the better part of a year now.

Fans who are also ready to move on from Cam will tell you they’re just being realists, but the fact is this camp has been going out of their way to push him out long before it was a thought on Teppers mind. It was “inevitable” that Cam would follow Luke into retirement. “Trading him makes the most sense” they said when he went on IR. The same local press tried to hand a complete JAG of a QB the keys to the city as soon as he brought just a slice of the success here that Cam did. Before Kyle it was Taylor, and Grier, etcetera ad nauseam. Now every week I have to read some local thinkpiece about how both parties should just split for their own good. Not a whole lot of suggestions he should stay. Just hammering home the idea that he’s already out the door.

The sad thing is at this point even if he gets healthy we’ve made it hard for him to want to stay. I only hope now that if he does and wants to stick around, he realizes that the media doesn’t represent the fans.

The observer has always been a classless newspaper especially when it comes to Cam Newton so I'm not surprised. Seems like posters like @mrcompletely11 would fit right in over there. Could be a future job for you bro. You can get paid to hate on Cam what could be better?

And for the record I unfortunately believe the writing is on the wall. Cam will be gone this offseason even though it is A HUGE MISTAKE.

Please link any comment I have made that is classless.  Please dont call me that unless you can provide examples.

As to whether its a mistake or not to cut cam or whatever that is not going to be known for a long time.  I have said since this issue came up that the timing was unfortunate for all parties.  The timing of him getting hurt, the surgery and more importantly the contract.  If he was in year 3 of his deal we would be moving right on down the road with him.  Since he is in a contract year it makes things tough.

Wrong. Healthy Cam with CMC and Moore = playoffs

With what OL, Defense, Backup QB, special teams, experienced coaching staff and competent front office? I know you believe 3 people can play football but they’d be disqualified for not being able field a full team.

Turner and Moton are fine, we can agree on that, right?

So we have two lineman that everybody agrees are fine .. that leaves us with 3 question marks .. let me qualm your concerns with the other 3 spots ..

Paradis - it was great that he was able to even start all 16 last season .. means he was healthy, probably needed one season for his gruesome leg injury to get back to feeling "right" - the plus is he was not injured. He will get back to being solid.

Little, while it may not be smart to expect him to be a solid starter, it is not smart to expect him to be a bust like many here have him as. Little could very well be a great Tackle .. he is 22 ..

The last spot, Guard .. we'll find somebody .. I think with Rhule and Brady - great developers of talent - will coach our offensive line up.

I don't believe our offensive line is as bad as we make it out to be .. nothing is ever as bad, or as good, as it seems.

The local media has always been trash ever since Cam arrived. They never questioned Ron when it came to his coaching blunders, but always wanted to question Cam about every little thing and blow it out of proportion.

Cookie, I go back to the "Pie Chart" presser when Jerry Richardson, in my opinion, came off looking like a lunatic.  During that presser, he sorta flirted with Morgan Fogherty (the hot blonde news anchor) and he ripped into Darrin Gant,  I used to work at the Observer on weekends in the Sports department as an agate clerk (fitting stories into columns--deleting parts of them to make them fit) and I stayed in touch with a few.  They told me that JR had gone after Gant's job.  A few days/weeks later, Gant is covering volleyball at Winthrop, removed from the Panther beat.

When that happens, it is a lot like what is going on in Washington.  There is no way to effectively do your job without losing it.  Maybe that is still the case----I dunno.

Rhule has exactly how many players that played for him at Baylor and temple current in the NFL?

Great developer of talent my ass.

In fact, most draft sites says he only has 3 people that “could” be drafted... two 4’s and a 7.
