Just Got Back From the Game

Just got back from seeing the Panthers play for the first time in my life. Even though I went with all Giants fans and I only saw 2 other Panther fans within 2-3 sections next to me, I had an amazing time. Watching my favorite team under the lights for the first time, in such a big game, and with a free ticket, the experience was great.

Thoughts:

Smith started off great but was mainly covered well for the rest of the game and that was difficult and I applaud the Giants D because Delhomme had tons of time in the pocket for most of the game.

Kemo will now be appreciated. For being at the game, I could actually see the plays being formulated in the back field and saw them develop. Those runs up the middle were only created because of him not being present. I would like to see them try that again when we have a giant in the middle.

Peppers sack was a thing of beauty. It shut up every loud mouthed Giant fan around me and seemed to knock the air out of the stadium. I saw him adjust and move to his right then all of a sudden tense up, as soon as the ball was snapped he took off like a rocket and crushed Eli. I actually thought this was the play that would save the game for us. His presence pre-snap also caused Diehl to have two false starts.

Although Beason did not lead the team in tackles, it seemed like his name was called every other defensive play.

The secondary was having a rough time covering anything within 10 yards of the LOS. On one particular play Gamble actually just watched the receiver look it in before reacting. He was only about 5ish yards away when the ball was thrown and his head was facing the qb the whole time. Not sure what to make of that.

The 3rd down we missed in OT looked like PI from where I was sitting but I will need to watch it again to determine.

In general Giants fans are nice. I have also never seen more schizophrenic people in my life. If I was a Giant's player I could care less about the fans. All they do is whine, until something happens and then that player is there favorite and they knew he was good. And most of them know very little about football, well the younger ones who just yelled the most idiotic things I have ever heard.

Sorry for the long post, but it was such a great game I had to type it all.

I got home about 6am this morning after a very long ride. As far as those that weren't there, this was an incredible game to be at. Yes, the defense faltered towards the end. I was 24 rows from the field and I can say with absolute certainty that wind did play a factor in the missed field goal. The wind shifts were insane last night. There were plenty of panther fans around my section and even the Grinch in a Steve Smith jersey. I can say that the Giants fans are interesting. I think for every touchdown or field goal made by the Giants, I was hit with at least 1 snowball and showered with snow from what was being tossed in the air. Overall, even though we lost, this was the game to be at this year. I think we'll meet again in the playoffs and once again, I'll be there cheering on the my boys.
