Cam's relationship with the team

What is cam's relationship with the Panthers right now? Tepper didn't even refer to Cam except as he, if he is healthy we will talk, does not sound much like the meeting Cam referred to. Cam coming out and making an announcement that he should know from 9 years in the league would be all over TV and the internet. I truly don't think him doing that (plus the coming out and talking to TMZ drunk) made Marty and Tepper very happy. If the team plans to trade him, I'm sure they'd want to sunshine pump Cam to make him feel happy in the case that they can't find a suitable replacement.

You notice 1 thing Tepper said (I as in me) have not heard or spoken to any teams... Marty Hurney has... Owners don't discuss trades. It's fairly obvious the chargers would at the very worst make one phone call to Marty, that's a big lie by Tepper.

I almost wonder if the Absolutely thing wasn't a big slap at Tepper; Cam would know that saying that would cause a big revolt in the fanbase in the event he was traded knowing he wanted to stay here. Tepper wanted to move on to the next question in that interview, send me a video of an owner doing that to Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady, Matt Ryan, Drew Brees, or another qb that at any time was hurt. Matt Ryan missed games 5 games under 500 from injury in a second consecutive losing season, Arthur Blank didn't ignore questions about him. Drew Brees IN HIS 40S!!!! Didn't get questioned when TB went 5-0.

I may be wrong, but I don't think NFL teams do things like this to build hype. They have psl dealers in their chairs sitting around all day doing nothing, I have my doubts people are going to pay 25,000 a psl for their bunkers if they're fiddle farting with Cam Newton just to keep him early April.

I don't know, I just feel that if the relationship were good at the moment, it would've been more something as "Cam Newton is our QB, if he is not 100% and won't be for the foreseeable future, we might have to change that."  I don't think I've seen a kicker be mentioned as Tepper did.

Question: Can the Panthers cut or trade Cam the day after the draft for cap savings? Just asking if hypothetically Tua had a good combine and the Bengals liked him better in Interviews and the Panthers traded to 3 to nab Burrow.

the relationship took a huge downturn when cam put out a video and giggled, and then proceeded to explain he covered up his injuries.  then his camp said he would be ready after the bye.  then he waited until december to get surgery on his foot (just like he has waited every other time).  it appears to be seriously strained and i think cam is handling it better than tepper, and how tepper is instructing marty, in the media.

Personally I think Cam did have the meeting with Tepper and Marty and it went well. Tepper just got pissed at the media for bugging him and repeated the same tune he’s said for months now, evaluate when healthy. It sounds bad coming out of his mouth and he probably regrets saying. Just hoping Cams corner didn’t take it the wrong way.

But it would be a pretty ballsy move for Cam to straight up lie about the talks he had with Marty and Tepper. Which I think would be an awesome power move on Cams part.

I feel like the only one who is pissed at Cam's behavior at the moment. Cigar and wine on this video bragging about doing something that Ron could've innocently not know about (The shoulder, foot, etc) The organization can get in MAJOR trouble for that. Cam is now messing with Tepper's consumers (using the terminology Tepper would use), now if he does something, the customer feels lied to. Cam was caught drunk by TMZ and he happily ran his mouth to them, got another woman pregnant after being with this girl for 4 years and will be in custody court all year (major distraction), and obviously this mess now. I can imagine Tepper is LIVID, this is not how the face of a 2.5 billion dollar brand acts, plus all this mess after 4 straight years of injury concerns. I would not be surprised if he is traded the day the new league year starts if he keeps this up, it's obvious the organization wanted to keep it quiet.

It's gone from Cam got cut because he's hurt to

To, Cam got cut after announcing he was staying, so the team sucks for trading him when he liked it here.

I was starting to lean more towards the Cam staying side, but I didn't see the eyes of a optimistic man when Tepper answered that question.

How would it be a awesome power move? The organization likely WANTS to suck in 2020, nothing they have done shows otherwise. Cam being healthy might've led them to spending in FA and using the draft picks to fill holes. I truly think what Cam did likely has sealed his fate here, why are you so confident in his judgement? This man WALKED UP AND ADMITTED TO TMZ HE WAS DRUNK, and proceeded to talk to them. Watch CMC and Greg, Greg is either drunk or VERY unhappy with how Cam is acting. CMC walked out with a pissed look on his face away from Greg and Cam, he is the kinda guy who would at least wave. I have a feeling Cam made a fool of himself in that restaurant. I don't trust him anymore, I truly think Kia screwed him up, the stupid clothes (take the blue glasses off, they're ugly as hell and the whole league laughs at him), the poor performance (first loss in 2015 and the SB loss was after chosen's birth), and so on were after the relationship got heavy. Frankly, I've seen multiple games injury aside since then Cam looked like he wasn't ready. 2017 vs Atlanta Cam couldn't hit the broad side of a barn, costing us the division. His actions have changed, he just doesn't seem like the same player or man we had in 2015. If you truly think he is going to come out in 2020 and focus on nothing but football when with the children alone, he will go to court for Custody determination, Then a drawn out court case on how much Cam has to pay a month on child support, then visitation during a 17 week NFL season.

Frankly I'm ready to tank and move on, this crap is getting stupid.

The Panthers didn't even acknowledge him when he spoke recently about meeting with the front office. The generally dismissive attitude by Tepper doesn't indicate much of a relationship if any at the moment. You can't ignore what's transpiring in front of you.

All this nonsense about his personal life is telling. When people go low you see what they are really about. Especially when they have a love affair with other players and never make it personal by taking swipes at their off the field lives.

Cam's going to be back and better than ever. That is what all of this is foreshadowing.

They want us to have never saw it coming.

Take the blue glasses off. That is not how businesses are run, Cam Newton staying would sell tickets and PSLs. You don't think Coke, CPI Security, and all his other sponsors care who will the QB is? Half empty stadiums during crappy seasons= less cokes sold at a game, less advertising seen, lost sponsorships in all.

Bottom line is that if Cam is healthy, he's here.  As we saw this year, franchise QB's area  precious commodity.  Also, Cam puts a$$es in seats and Tepper know this.

Go watch Clem- excuse me the crowd confused me Carolina Panthers vs Houston Texans in 2017 preseason. I know another player who would put ALOT MORE butts in the seats.

Based on Pantherzack's standard for what it is and isn't acceptable behavior from a franchise quarterback, I'm curious to hear his opinion of Ben Roethlisberger.

And why are you babbling about 2017 of all seasons? Cam actually dragged us to the playoffs that year. If you're going to pick a down year, why that one?

    • First of all Sooners fan? Mods? Second if you think someone needs a specific reason to hate Texas you don’t watch real college football.
    • 100% even if rest of team is really talented if they march young out to be qb and he plays like he has for 90% of his starts the panthers have already lost doesnt even matter how good the rest of the team is or isnt and also makes it hard to even tell how good they are.  They need true competition for young this offseason.
    • It will be awesome to have an improved stadium to lose in I guess....   https://www.yahoo.com/news/panthers-file-rezoning-bank-america-111500840.html     The Carolina Panthers have taken another necessary step toward renovating their home of the present and future. Panthers Stadium, LLC, filed its rezoning site plan with the city of Charlotte on Monday, initiating an important — if mostly technical — step toward renovating Bank of America Stadium. The filings state that the rezoning relates “primarily to technical aspects associated with improvements to Bank of America Stadium,” and that the rezoning is required because “the current stadium zoning is out of date” for the team’s stadium renovation plans.   The planned stadium updates include new seats installed throughout the upper and lower bowls; stadium safety and security enhancements; a reimagined South Lawn Pavilion; upgraded restrooms; exterior enhancements (including LED video boards) and more. Planning for the stadium renovation project will continue through 2025, with construction starting in 2026 and the renovation’s conclusion in 2029, The Observer previously reported.
