I think the Chargers are wanting Herbert. So you wine and dine both Herbert and Love. Makes Chargers scared to trade down and Colts needing to trade up.

Exactly. We need one of the teams between us and Indy to wine and dine him. Them thinking we are interested doesn’t really help our trade back potential very much

Ok, but if they think you covet a player like Love, and they call you to trade, and you say "NO!!" then you know that Indy is trying to move up--what do they need, and why would they move up?  for a QB!!  Now the Colts just signaled to the Panthers that they are looking to move up.  They would think that the Panthers would use this knowledge to deal with the Giants, for example.  Knowing that the Panthers are now going to deal with the Giants, the Colts have to call Detroit, and the cost just got a lot higher.

When we drafted Moton,  word on the street was that we wanted Dion Dawkins.  Oddly, even though the GM for the Bills was recently a Panther (Beane), the Bills (seeming to know our intent) did not trade with us--they worked out a deal with the Falcons, picking before us.

It’s still win win. If we get them to jump us for Love, the there is a possibility of Burrow, Tua, Herbert, and Love going before our pick. Young goes 2, so we could get Brown or Okudah (both top 5 players).

Why? So Marty can piss away two 2nd round picks?

There is gonna be a stud of an OT or DT there at #7. Take him unless someone absolutely blows us away with an offer we can't refuse. An extra 2nd ain't that IMO. Especially a 2nd round pick made by Marty Hurney.

I get the reluctance but this is a deep DT and OT draft, we could still get a player at #13. I don't prefer it but I wouldn't hate it.
