BREAKING NEWS: David Tepper speaks on Cam Newton status with Panthers

its obvious what is going on. The team has told Cam that they will be trading him, but out of respect for the franchise have asked him to keep it on the low, and keep media at bay. Cam is being a good partner with the franchise, and knows that he is auditioning for his next team come march.

The rest is our upper level management creating the proper attention for a trade bait.

So if you say his status depends on his health and then try to deal him, might the other team enter with a "buyer beware" mindset?  I would.

So the only way Cam isn’t back is if he’s not healthy? Does that mean that we just reach an injury settlement with him and move right along if he isn’t 100% healthy?

To me it sounds like they are setting us up to deal with the reality the Cam era at the very least could possibly be over.

I mean why wouldn’t he at least come out and say without a doubt he’s our QB. If he’s not healthy week 1, we will rest him until he’s ready to go?

It's a misinterpretation of what's being said, and honestly an awful lot of people are getting it wrong.

Tepper is not saying that Newton's future with the Panthers depends on whether or not he's healthy.

What he is saying is that a decision on Newton's future can't be made until he's healthy.

Those are two very different things.

If the message that you're getting out of his words is that we'll keep him if he's healthy, that's not at all what's being said. Tepper is being completely non-commital in his public statements. If you watch the video Rodrigue posted, not only is he highly evasive but one of his people actually shuts down the questions right after someone (apparently, Steve Reed) presses him to comment on Newton's statements.

Speaking Tuesday, Panthers owner David Tepper said Cam Newton's future with the team will depend on his health.

So if Cam has a clean bill of health, then he's ABSOLUTELY 100% coming back, right?

Right?

Genius Billionaire Tepper wouldn't be lying to us, would he?

Bill Barnwell suggests the following:

THE PATRIOTS TRADE A THIRD-ROUND PICK TO THE PANTHERS FOR CAM NEWTON

CAR

NE

Looking for an option with both short- and long-term potential, the Patriots go for the highest-upside passer left in the market by sending a pick to Carolina for the 2015 MVP. The 30-year-old passes a physical before the trade, but both sides agree that Newton should play out the final year of his deal before considering an extension.

what? no. Every GM in the league knows whats going on here, and waiting for March as well. This is to control media, and show that Cam is a team player, further driving his value.

Falcons get a 2nd round pick for Sanu and we get a 3rd round pick for a 30 year old former MVP QB...seems legit.
