For those who want to tank for Trevor Lawrence?

Tom Brady and Peyton Manning weren’t exceptional athletes. Most HOF QBs weren’t either. Who cares if Lawrence isn’t as athletic as Cam? He’s actually pretty athletic, but at this point, I just want a QB who can throw a good pass.

Also, LOL at Lawrence being some just OK recruit. He won a National Championship over a loaded Alabama team and he started as an 18 year old turning 19 during the season. He’s not a slouch. He was the #2 recruit his year with the same rating as #1 Fields. There’s very few QBs that ever did what he did as a true freshman. Clemson has a lot of talent, like Alabama does, but Lawrence is as talented as anyone. Did you watch the Ohio State game? Higgins got hurt early and had 33 yards. Etienne had 36 yards rushing. Lawrence basically beat OSU, who was a damn good team with great talent on D. They’ll have a DE and CB that will likely go top 5, another 2nd round CB and a DT and LB likely in the 3rd. That’s just the ones coming out this year.

Anyway, it does amaze me the hoops people jump through to protect Cam. Love him as my QB but we’ve gotten very little healthy play since 2017 and I’m not going to act like we’ll never replace him. Maybe the team wants to keep him and hope. That’s their call. I just know that I’d love to get Lawrence for the next decade. Maybe he won’t pan out and maybe our rebuild will suck and we’ll be the new Cleveland, but it’s worth the chance just like the last two rebuilds.

So now we are comparing Lawrence to Brady and Manning and other HOF quarterbacks when he is a junior in college and not even in the NFL.. Let's compare him to other quarterbacks who were awesome as underclassroom and flamed out their senior year or underachieved in the pros. The likelihood he won't be a HOF is 10 times higher than he will. Certainly not enough to tank for. What a stupid idea.

First, the idea’s not stupid. You’re an ass to act like that, especially when we’ve gone to two SBs as a direct result of tanking twice. Bury your head in the sand but don’t ignore our own history.

Now I’ll get back to a civil discourse of my opinions whether you understand them or not. He was one of the most highly touted HS QB recruits. He’s made it to the NC in his true freshman and sophomore years and won it once. He’s beaten some ridiculously NFL talented teams (OSU and Alabama) while playing really well. I’d put his ceiling as Peyton Manning and that may be his best comparison as Brady wasn’t a highly touted QB coming into the NFL. What else am I supposed to do to discuss him? Curl up in a fetal position and cry that the team might be getting rid of Cam? Listen, I’ll try to be clear here. At this point in his career, Lawrence has shown me nothing that makes me not want him to be the Panthers starting QB if we move on from Cam.

You guys sure will jump through hoops to discredit him when every NFL analyst would put Lawrence #1 on their 2021 list. I’m not going to pretend we are a contender or that we can’t easily be 2-14 next year. I’m not going to pretend that I think Cam will come back to 2015 form. I’m also not going to pretend that I don’t want Lawrence bad. Yes, just like any other scenario I can’t see the future, but that doesn’t mean Lawrence is more Jamarcus Russell than Peyton Manning. There’s just as much chance that Lawrence becomes Peyton Manning than Cam gives us 6 more injury free great seasons. In that case, I’d rather take the extra picks and $140M in cap savings (with Lawrence) over 2021-2025 and roll the dice.

Remember when we tried to suck for Luck and he stayed in college. We ended up with Cam but tanking for an underclassman is risky business and there may not be a prospect like Cam sitting there.

I do not remember us trying to suck for luck, I think we just fell into sucking because of our owner and GM.

Again stupid logic. So you are either Peyton Manning or Janarcus Russell.?

And the choice is between Lawrence becoming Peyton Manning or Cam playing 6 more injury free seasons? What if the chance of either of those is slim to nothing.

Clearly you want him badly if it skews your logical thinking to the point of extreme exaggerations and choices which have little chance to occur.

So glad you have nothing to do with the decisions we make. Compared to your thinking, Hurney is a genius.

OMG. Stupid logic? You really can’t handle a discussion or reading. I said he’s more Manning than Russell. You understand that right? “More” is a word to show comparison and that you said before why not compare him to busts than HOFers. Now you can’t read. More <> either. Feel free to look it up.

My 2019 draft would have been better than Marty’s but feel free to keep acting like an ass. Enjoy your PSLs. I can only hope we trade Cam just to make you more of a miserable ass. See ya buddy!

With what money do you think???  How about 62000 times 1000 dollars or 62 million plus more in amenities and millions more in viewership. And yes I am forced to buy season tickets or lose thousands by losing the PSLs which you can't sell for 1/5 of what I paid for them. Atlanta is struggling as folks are turning in their PSLs because they don't want to pay more money for tickets to fund a losing product. I predict that we won't be far behind if we go full tank mode.

A large percentage of the teams revenue comes from league deals, you are severely overstating the measly amount the average fan contributes on game day.

Attendance  could go down by 20%, which it won’t, and I’m guessing the team will be ok financially.

The home ticket money and concessions and parking that a team makes doesn't get shared with the whole league and becomes the teams money which is very important to an owner. If it wasnt teams wouldn't be building new stadiums to attract more folks and build more suites and club options.

There will never be another year this good for a while to tank for a franchise qb star and I think Tepper knows this.  Look across the league; there's basically no other team positioned to completely bottom out that doesn't have even a potential future QB on their roster.  Only exception might be the Lions and that's if they move Stafford.  With a coach on such a long contract, this is a golden opportunity.
