SB wins and losses can be as simple as one play or one missed play. Getting there as a rebuild IMHO is success. We didn’t finish it like the others but at that point it’s on the coaches/players.

8 of the last 16 starting QBs whose teams made the SB (counting Wentz) were QBs drafted by those teams in the first 5 years of their career. The other 7 were NE draft picks 5 times, Peyton twice and Ryan.

Unless we are trading for a HOF QB or Grier is Tom Brady, the best chance we have based on recent history is to draft a QB in the first and hope he gets to a SB in his first 5 years.

That’s not the best way imo, most those teams were flashes in the pan, chiefs are the best model to follow if there is one in recent years.

improve your team while staying competitive, draft a qb and develop him, than make the transition.

more importantly it’s about paying the right people, we see every year these qbs get paid and a team fail to add prices do to being cap strap to a qb. You have cam on a cheap 1 yr deal, either draft a qb the staff likes and develop him or see what cam does and go from there.

not saying you’re advocating for it but this notion of starting practice squad players and selling to the fans it’s for the greater good of team is hog wash.

cam balls out you have the option to trade him next year and use that capital for ammo to grab a Lawerence, he doesn’t you trade him at the deadline and let Kyle or whoever finish the season and you grab a qb, without submarining a season just cause

the collective idiocy of this fan base in wanting to get rid of Cam for a has been veteran or a rookie QB like Trevor lawrence who could bust just like Joe burrow who could bust and just like Tua who could bust is absolutely insane. When cam returns to MVP form i can't wait for you idiots wanting him gone to eat the biggest piece of crow you can find. You people make me sick.

What do you mean "you people?"

Just kidding.  I concur.

How do you automatically go to the absolute worst franchise in the NFL for decades as some sort example of a result of moving on from Cam?

The other day a fanboy said Luke was nothing without Cam...

some even thinks he’s the best player to ever play for the Panthers (understandable these people didn’t know watch pre-2010)...

like holy poo you cam fanboys are going off the deepend...even for y’alls level.

for those of you fanboys sticking around post cam, chill the fug out the world isn’t ending, the Panthers aren’t becoming the browns, and they were never much better, can really only go up

it’ll all be ok.

I’ve been watching since 1995 and Cam is DEFINITELY the best overall player we’ve ever had.

Browns level bad isn’t a season type thing, It’s decades of mismanagement.  Us moving on from Cam wouldn't even put us in the same zip code as the Browns.  If the new regime wants to flip the roster it doesn’t have to be a 7 year project and I’m still not sure why everyone in here immediately goes to worst case scenario.

Because Tepper specifically said five years. He’s willing to tolerate years of actual, legitimate bottomfeeding (not mediocre 7-9 seasons, actual 2-14 seasons) if he thinks we’ll be better on the other end.

There's a definite arrogance in these fans that just automatically assume we won't be Browns level bad. Hey dudes, newsflash, we already have been. We won 1 divisional game and finished as arguably the worst team in the entire NFL on an 8 game losing streak. And to top it all off, people are advocating making our starting RB the highest paid at his position with uncertainty swirling around the quarterback position. That sounds an awful lot like the Browns to me.

I can’t speak for anyone else but when I think Browns level bad, it’s less about how bad you suck for an individual season than just not being any good for decades on end. This may or may not be what others are referring to when they say Browns level of bad. Less about how bad you are at the moment than how long you go without ever being good.

But you’re right about this: sucking for a few years in a rebuild does not actually guarantee we’ll be good on the other side, people should remember that’s a goal, not a guarantee.

His quote was if it takes 5 years to be good for the next 20 he’d do it. Which if he’s not lying already separates us from the Browns thankfully.  Patience isn’t a negative, and even if it’s “5 years” that doesn’t mean we are going to be bottom feeders for five years, it just means his goal is to build smart for sustained success not try and jump steps like so many teams do.

I do agree it’s no sure thing to decide to restart and there is a downside, especially with a brand new owner and coach, but I just don’t get why everyone is 100% convinced it’s already a decade of misery and we are now the Browns.

Feels like a bunch of over reactions from people who aren’t ready to move on from a roster which hasn’t been playing well for a while now.

Y’all are mixing up what I said lol, I didn’t say we would be the browns, I said browns like rebuild. Only recent “rebuild” team that won a Super Bowl was the eagles, and that was without Wentz

Eagles roster wasn't even a rebuild it was veteran heavy,

OL - Peters, Kelce, Brooks, Johnson

DL - Fletcher Cox. Brandon Ingram,

S - Malcolm Jenkins

DB - Vets and youth

LB - Vets and youth

Prior to injury

QB - Wentz who they traded out the a** for (Then Foles)

HB - Jay Ajayii, Blount (if memory serve)

TE - Ertz, and Celek (I believe his last season)

WR - Jeffrey. Torrey Smith, Agholar

Nothing about this core group says rebuild...that Eagles team was absolutely stacked, and in some regard still is, Wentz keeps getting hurt, and is now a 30M + QB, you'll start to see some of the talent start to fall off, so hitting on picks, and his health will be paramount.

TD is my favorite Panther.

That said, he is also the only player that I can recall, coming back from 3 ACL injuries to play at a very high level again.  He thinks that he is invincible....and likely thinks that Cam is as well.  It's just how those guys are wired.

However, they aren't invincible, they are real humans under those pads.  A lot of the fanbases fear is that Cam cannot regain his greatness, possibly even be good again for a full season and offseason.  Injuries have shortened, or downright killed the careers of many NFL players, Cam may bounce back, or he may not, we have no idea, and neither do the coaches and FO personnel.  That's the issue.

If Cam is healthy, fully healthy, and needs no vet days, no "new normal" non throwing days, more time in the tub or on the table vs. being on the field learning an entirely new offense....well, there's not much you can say there, it probably is time to move on and give him a fresh start.  If he wants to play out this year, and can actually do all those things, and look good doing them, then the big extension will be forthright.

As I have said many times, I want him here, but my brain says he will be somewhere else this season.

It’s the NFL, we’ll field a team. No one is saying sit CMC and don’t try to win, but it’s funny how many people want to avoid 2-14 like the plague. We’ve made it to 2 Super Bowls. In 2001, we sucked but it got us Peppers and in 2003 we went to the Super Bowl. In 2010, we sucked and we got Cam and in 2015 we went to the Super Bowl. Our two worst seasons set the groundwork for our two best seasons.

We suck this year, don’t care how much optimism there is. We have a Cam who hasn’t been fully healthy in 5 years. We’ve got arguably the worst D in the league that looks like it will lose a bunch of FAs. We’ve got an OL that gave up the second most sacks and the most sacks was a team that got rid of their best two OL the past two years. We drafted a tackle at 37 and signed a big C FA deal and tried to improve and did as bad. There’s no sugar coating where we are. It’s time for a reboot of 2001 and 2010. If history repeats again that’s the best chance to get back to the SB and god forbid win this time.

Agreed.  Many fans here have some awfully short memories.

WE CAN'T TANK.

Yea, last time netted us our franchise QB and our only league MVP.  It may not work again, but what we are doing now clearly doesn't work.
