No we don't.  2 better QBs in next year's draft and Cam is still here.

Might be 3 or more better. Burrow came out of nowhere. Newman and Trask appear to have some big upside as well based on the scouting reports I read and Fields and Lawrence are legit.

Fields is way overrated.  Lawrence is good but if you like Lawrence you should probably like Herbert.  Similar players.  There is an argument that Eason or Herbert are better than Lawrence.  Be careful what you wish for.

And Burrow is better than any of them.  Pretty clear IMO.

Lawrence was really good vs Ohio State.  Admittedly.  Otherwise against good comp he was very suspect.

How about the National Championship against Alabama and all their top picks? Lawrence has been solid against every team he played include 3-1 in the playoffs against teams with solid NFL talent. Comparing Lawrence to Herbert is laughable if you’ve seen both play. Lawrence has won games with big throws and going downfield. Herbert hasn’t. LOL at Herbert and Eason being better. There’s no argument at all outside of your post.

Burrow is a 5th year player with 1 great and 1 meh season. He’s going to be 24 in his rookie season and Trevor and Justin will be 22 their rookie seasons with 3 and 2 really good to great seasons. Burrow was 3 years older than Lawrence and Fields were this year. If he was like them he’d have just finished his 2nd year in the pros.

Who poos on a player recovering well?

I don't think people are reading and just coming in here to provide their little hot takes.  "Don't draft him", "His team made him look good", etc.  He was talked up as the best coming into the year for a reason.

Regardless of this report, he still is an undersized qb with an extensive history of injury issues. We are an NFL team whose offensive line got every qb that played behind it within the past year injured and a GM who very likely thinks he just drafted his franchise LT in a 2nd round pick last year that looked mediocre at best when playing and who didn't play most of the year owing to multiple concussions which leave his entire career going forward a question mark.

Do.

Not.

Want.

We may very well be in a competition to move up for him with Miami if we do move on from Cam.

I'm actually scared of this, and this news doesn't help.

I love his skill set, I HATE where our offensive line currently resides coupled with his injury history.  If he can stay healthy though, I think he turns into a very good NFL player.

Scenario wise, how would people feel if we drafted Hennessy or Biadasz in R2-3 then a tackle mid round along with grabbing a new starting LG (There will be significant upgrades over GVR available) in the FA?

I personally want Andrew Thomas at 7 but if the board goes full meltdown in a Tua or Herbert scenario, there's still ways we could reshape the OL and that could be a clear path.

Just saying...I think there's more than one way to build the line.  There's potentially 3 foundational centers in this draft.  We need to get one IMO and that is just as critical as LT in this day and age.  The interior collapsing was just as big of an issue as speedy edge rushers.

You build what you can with the people you want long term.  This part isn't directed at you but if this new staff thinks Tua or Herbert is that long term piece, people here will need to understand they will be targeted ansd that doesn't mean the line will be neglected.  If the word is true and the Hurney replacement will be on board by draft time and eventual take over, I will have optimism that we're building from the lines out.  (1) 2020 1st rounder doesn't make an offensive line.  It's a process.

I wouldn’t hate it even though I’d hate to lose the draft capital knowing how sucky we’d be with Grier if we move on from Cam. Do not give up next year’s first. Not ever. That could be Lawrence and even if we were settled, you could get a King’s ransom the likes of which we’ve never seen. Forget RG3 and Goff and Wentz and evening Herschel and Ricky. It would be like trading Peyton Manning’s slot.

That said if we got Tua, I’m redshirting him this year. He might be clear but I wouldn’t chance it until the OL is set. Again, I’d rather go for Trevor/others in 2021.
