Philip Rivers now a Free Agent

Someone will slam me for this, but I've just never thought the guy was as good as the press around him. Like Carson Palmer, everything was about how good he was, what a great passer, master of the game... but just never could push a team into real contention.

He’s not a guy who can carry an offense like a Manning, Rodgers, Brees, etc. by any means. But put him in New England with Belichick and he probably has at least a couple rings. At this point though he’s pretty bad. Rivers and Colts would be an interesting pair.

In a lot of ways, he seemed like a great individual player in a team sport.  Anymore, he is well past his expiration date.

    • I largely detached from the NBA altogether the last few months. I had no idea the Pistons somehow stumbled into the playoffs. Seems like even the poverty franchises are a few tiers above us. Unreal.
    • I think it's a possibility of them moving to #3 with the Giants for Carter because.. The Giants can't take Sanders at 3, it's too high (and too much pressure). Get a 3rd and 4th round and maybe a next year 2nd (not too steep) and they save face and get their man and we get ours. If the price is too much, Morgan won't do it.  It's the same for us. We wouldn't mind moving back a couple of spaces but teams won't give up too much. If our top 3 picks are gone at 8, people might not give us a ton to move, but we may get something and still get a good player at 12-15 or so.  I don't think teams will over pay to move up this year, so the next best thing is get what you can and still get a decent pick.
    • We can't right this ship in a single offseason anyway. Dan Morgan needs to focus on the basics. If he gets hung up on trying to get value out of this pick or that pick and trying to acquire extra assets like Scott Fitterer used to always thinking he was the smartest guy in the building then Dan is in all likelihood in for another rude awakening. And as usual the fanbase will be the ones picking up the pieces.
