XFL

I actually really enjoy watching these games. Not having any real attachment to any team it’s kind of fun. I hope this really gives those players that didn’t work out for a team (needed more development, wasn’t right scheme for them, needed mental personal growth) A second chance to catch fire.

Glad to see Cameron Artis-Payne tearing it up out there. I feel like he has a good chance of a NFL team calling him up based on what he has shown so far. Honestly, now that we have new coaches, If he keeps performing that well in the XFL I wouldn't mind us taking another look at him as a person to take a little of the load off of CMC's back.

Actually, the XFL isn't all bad. Actually enjoyed watching it a bit. Haven't really found my team yet, which could help, but it's good to see some of those players back on the field.

It is kind of cool that Ricky Proehl's son scored the first TD for the league. And former Panther Austin Duke had a good game yesterday -- maybe the kid is developing some.

XFL ratings have declined which everyone expected.

Here are some Saturday numbers though.

Saturday
XFL-ABC 1.9M
NBA-ABC 1.75M
PGA-NBC 1.72M
NCAAB-CBS 966K

Competitive. America loves football and will watch. Won't compete with NFL numbers for some time, but can be successful long term provided the business side can deal with short term mediocrity.

Barely outdrawing golf and Tiger wasn't even playing that week.

How long until the XFL folds?

Depends on if they get a TV deal. Technically they have one but they don't get a fee for it. Ratings so far seem to warrant a new deal that actually pays $$.

I've said all along it is likely doomed. We have tried this too many times.

Vince has put aside 500m of his own money to fund the XFL for three seasons. So no worry about it folding since attendance has been decent so far.

Has he though? He has said he expects to pay $500M in the first three years and he has moved $100M of his stock into a subsidiary owned by him. But as far as I can tell he can pull the plug anytime.

He sold 375m in WWE stocks and pushed it into Alpha which runs the XFL. Did a first sell worth 100m in December of 17 and then another one worth 275m in April of last year.
