Until that turns into missing out on the best qb to a 1-15 team, taking the next best, having him bust, but not giving up on him ie bears and Mitch. And, finally, 4 years after trading cam, the panthers still haven’t found a franchise qb and rhule gets fired.

people need to stop thinking finding a good qb is so easy. It’s not. We have one in cam. Rivera and his dumbass med staff aren’t there to rush cam back from injures  anymore. He’s gonna be fine

You mean like Missing Payton Mannington and drafting Ryan Leaf. Or drafting Jason Peters ooof.

Dumping Cam, unless he is never going to recover from his injuries, would be the dumbest thing this franchise has done. Even dumber than hiring Hurney a second time.

The only way you trade Cam is if you get enough in return to trade up to get Joe Burrow. Nothing / no one else would be worth it

Yea trade up for a guy currently older than the NFL MVP who had to spend 5 years in college to catch lighting in a bottle. He isn’t good.

It’s interesting to me that people want to keep Cam but admit he’s only worth a 3rd. If that’s his worth, why do we want to keep him so bad?

He’s worth way more than a 3rd round pick. The people comparing him to Flacco are way off base. It’s a first rounder or bust for Cam. Luckily I’m sure people in the actual league hold Cam higher than some folks around here. A 3rd rounder is insulting and it’s ridiculous.

These are close to my thoughts.  Getting a franchise QB is way harder than people think.

Jake was great for that time period but he was never a franchise QB, IMO. He was a dumpster dive find on someone's bench(let's not forget he was a backup to Aaron Brooks) that turned into an above average gunslinger. I love Jake and I loved those teams, but he wasn't a franchise caliber QB.

a lot of days he was a franchise qb.  some he wasn't.   getting him and steven davis off the trash heap in the same year is what made marty think he could do that every year.   that luck really set us back after it wore off.

Jake also had some great WR's that made him look amazing at times. Cam has not had that, unfortunately.

I don't think Marty's weakness is dumpster diving. That was actually more of a Gettleman weakness, IMO. Marty seems to fixate and have a difficult time perceiving market value versus his own personal value of a player. He does the same when he drafts, as well.

People seem to forget the Sam Bradford Vikings trade Bradford was oft injured as well and didn’t exactly set the world on fire

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000694979/article/sam-bradford-traded-to-vikings-for-two-draft-picks

that said, as a season ticket holder, I want to see Cam Newton play out his contract here. He carried Rivera’s sorry ass for years
