How do you know 100% that Cam wants to stay? How do you know 100% that Hurney and Co are just seeing what teams are willing to offer? Y’all read too much into the cat and mouse game teams and players play.

Based on his interview, it seemed that is the case--but you bring up a point--why would he?  Still, aren't discussion boards about reading into things.

Chargers would be a franchise that would make the most sense for him to go to, and they are poorly run enough where they would offer us something in return for Cam.

They need to sell tickets, BAD.  Have to figure out some way to get LA to buy in, and that's near impossible....but Cam would certainly help.

I think the raiders for 2 reasons.  Cam in LV seems to be a perfect fit and they have 2 firsts.  They could easily give up one for Cam.  That would be a win for all parties.

Edit- Hell I would offer Cam and Cmac for the 2 firsts.  That is a fair trade and helps both teams

I am trying to understand how that happens.  Pretty strange.

I mean, it's possible it was just put out there prematurely (which would be kinda weird with a "coming soon" tweet) but it also makes me wonder if they didn't like the reaction they were getting.

Maybe it divulged too much of their game plan of the future or something.

1 thing for sure is that this makes me think they have already made a concrete decision on Cam.

I'm still waiting for a worthy argument on why we should potentially offer CMC a record contract this year in the midst of shipping off our starting quarterback. If we are minimum two years away from contending with a franchise quarterback in place, what good is it to pay McCaffrey a boatload of money to rot on a losing team in a rebuild in what are his prime years?

Not saying it is worthy in your eyes, but I can imagine they feel he is young enough, and is a perfect fit for the offense Brady wants to run. Brady likes to line his running back up as a wide out when he goes 5 wide, and what better running back to do that with than CMC?

There is a less than zero % chance of us getting a 1st round draft pick for Cam.

In fact, at this point, I would be shocked if we even got a late 2/early 3.  I think, if traded, it will be for a late 3 or so....maybe a really desperate team would toss a late 2, but I would be shocked.

The question is are we trying to compete? If we are and we are no longer content with being the doormat of the NFCS (1-5 in the division last year) then let's fuging go. I'm onboard. If we are tanking, fug no I do not want to pay anyone a record breaking contract. I don't care how handsome they are or how many fans fawn over him.

Disagree...

Newton and the team were at cross purposes for a while. That made it seem like they were headed for a divorce.

Now Newton and his people appear to be changing their tune, though the team (at least publicly) still sounds non-commital.

And of course, there's still the question of when he'll be healthy.

You get the feeling this could be a bit of a soap opera / roller coaster / both.

Not saying I agree or disagree, just my thoughts on what they may be thinking.
