CALM DOWN

Can we all just calm down a little bit, especially with this Rhule and his baylor hires.  Think about it like this....we hired Rhule to come in and do what he does best, build teams.  So if Rhule hires all these "NFL" guys that have their ways of doing things wouldn't that hurt Rhule in doing what he wants to do?  He is bringing in his dudes that know exactly what he is about to do....will be no surprises for Rhule in company as he builds this dynasty.

I'm not excited by the staff other than Rhule and Brady.  Dynasty.  I'd settle for B2B winning seasons and some semblance of consistency.

I'm fine with measured concern (ha ha, on the Huddle???), and a lot of these Baylor hires do have me concerned.

If it looks like poo next season, then folks are going to get fired.  Tepper is betting BIG on Rhule.  We'll see if it work.

I can completely get bringing in his guys to run his team the way he wants it.  He doesn't want to bring in career NFL people who have their own agendas, wanting to move up the chain in a year or two.

So we'll just have to see if it works.

Guys have to start somewhere but I don’t like that he said he wanted to bring a few seasoned NFL coaches in here and either didn’t or couldn’t deliver it. I don’t like that we couldn’t figure out how to get Berry here and aren’t waiting for the Patriots guy for this position.

It’s making me worry that Tepper is ok with this coming season being a full on learning experience for the entire football side of the organization that will either pay off or not.

You know the best way to come up with new ideas? Have a group made up of diverse individuals. Rhule's 'process' works in college, we don't know if it will work in the NFL. I hope these guys can all think outside of (Rhule's) the box and challenge him when needed.

We're all hoping it'll work out. But to be fair, there are indeed reasons to be concerned.

The biggest one being a major lack of NFL experience on the coaching staff. And yeah, putting a guy who's never worked in the NFL in an executive position raises an eyebrow too. Honestly, the situation it seems to most mirror is what the Eagles did with Chip Kelly.

I'm not "freaking out" at this point, but there are valid reasons to wonder whether or not this is going to work.

So, we've got a new head coach coming in and he's been able to bring about 3/4 of the staff he used at his last spot (two last in some cases) where he was able to turn programs around quickly. Many new head coaches get lucky if they can snag one or two folks they have worked with, so seeing that he is lifting a staff into place from one source, it probably gives him the best chance to succeed.

The fact that they are making the jump from college to pro level is the worrisome one, but there seems to be a sprinkling of NFL experience in there. And he does not seem to be basing his future plans on some revolutionary way to run the game and build teams.

Let's give it some time, because it is going to take some time.

And remember, you wanted change and that always creates at least some suckage.

    • I meant to type more my bad…. first and main reason we’re probably trying to add him his pff scores are high very high. Being that we value that much more nowadays I know he’s on our radar. His run stopping grades were like the highest of all LBs. That would have given us top graded plates at all three levels Brown then Pratt with   JC and Moehrig were definitely stopping the run this year with these monsters fully healthy. I hope we dangling some of that Clowney money at him we need him to solidify our defense. add in the NC ties and we should be in play got his services
    • You're not even reading what I'm saying you're just ranting. It has everything to do with draft pick value vs. cap space impact. The agent knows he's holding significant draft capital over the GM's head vs. minimal cap impact. Not everyone is geared like Dave Gettleman where literally everything boils down to a dick measuring contest. History indicates the agents progressively whittle away and win the battle vs. the GMs on the rookie contracts. Hell, we have an owner throwing out typical 6th rounder guarantees at UDFAs just to secure them. He's not sweating pennies on the dollar against the cap or trying to protect his precious wallet. It's the one thing I do appreciate about Tepper. The man will spend to try to win. Being cheap hasn't been our issue.
    • I would LOVE to have the talent that Oakland and NY(Giants) have. They were/are WAAAAAY better rosters.  I think we will finally crawl out of that "worst" spot this season, even as a massive sceptic.  We need it.
