TD and Olsen crying to Daddy Jerruh for extensions and getting GMan fired looks worse and worse every season

Well Gettleman has successfully deconstructed a successful franchise in NY and is a hair's breadth from getting canned himself. Firing him was the right move, it was hiring Marty Hurney again that was the huge mistake.

We hired a cap specialist already from the Steelers and will still hire an assistant GM which will come after the draft (more than likely will be from the Patriots). This is a role we didn’t even have before, so why complain? I would hate to see some of you in real life. You must carry tissues around 24/7.

I see the Rhule tie but it's keeping Hurney that disqualified us from beinging in a star like Berry or the NE guy to land this guy. In the end, it is all Tepper's fault. I would have liked to see Rhule get a good shot at succedding but that may be going down the drain with another bad move.

I want to see Rhule be successful too but he has put together a pretty questionable staff and now we seem to be pulling in people with zero NFL experience into our front office, which is mind boggling.

I agree on this being Tepper's fault. Who in the world is advising this dude? Oh right....

not sure this is the same role that Tepper alluded to in the beginning. maybe there are two VP jobs open for the Panthers right now?

I’m going to keep quoting this to remind you fools that we are still hiring an “assistant GM” role after the draft. This guy could take over full time and replace a Hurney who could still move into a different role with the team. It won’t happen until after the draft, so stop complaining that we filled a role that we didn’t even have previously. This only makes the team stronger and is someone who will support Rhule during his 7 year contract.

Why after the draft?  All the scouting has just started.  Combine is still weeks away.  Draft still 2+ months.

I still really like the Rhule hire.  I'm just concerned about the FO (mainly because Hurney is still the ONLY guy)

If it is after the draft, it would likely be because we are after the NE guy. His contract expires after the draft.

The NFL experience was never injected and now we are relying on 3-13 guy to set the pace...yikes. Maybe they can pull it off but damn it's looking bleak.

Timing of it all is cherry on top. GMan gets fired at the end of the season after the jeans day scandal, we get a good GM bc Jerruh doesn’t rehire his buddy. If it happened earlier we still have Beane.

Dude they were 3-13 the year before DG got there and were in shambles with a QB who was done. They had a decent couple drafts. According to PFR, they’ve got 8 starters from the past two years. We’ve got 2 starters from the past two years.

I don’t want him back but he’s drafted better than we have since he’s been gone.

Because most candidates that we want for that role have contracts that expire in May, and if you move on from Hurney now, it would be like firing your head coach right before the season starts.

“While this job reports to General Manager Marty Hurney, this isn’t the front office addition owner David Tepper alluded to earlier in the year when discussing a restructured front office. Tepper mentioned a title which included “vice president” for that slot, but that’s not the job Padden is filling.

They’re eventually going to hire an assistant General Manager to groom under and eventually replace Hurney, but that spot may not be filled until after the draft.”

Yeah but he banked his entire future on getting Barkley and Jones. If those moves don't pan out quickly, Gettleman will be headed into retirement. And some of those openings on the roster were created by him jettisoning good players.

But, he has definitely done a better job drafting than Hurney. Not a super high mark to hit at this point, however. The results are that they have won a total of 9 games in his two seasons. It's pretty hard to ignore that.

I don't expect it will get much better next season.
