Pretty sure Marty's current contract only has a year left on it 

With that said, over the last few months there's been more talk about Nick Caserio so I wonder if we're going that direction instead. His contract ends when the draft is done.

Actually, the report that he could happen came from a couple of Steelers reporters, most notably longtime beat writer Ed Bouchette.

As was already mentioned though, a while back most of the inside chatter stopped focusing on Kevin Colbert and started focusing on Nick Caserio.

If I had to guess probably once Tepper really thought about it he may have decided that if he's building long term, he didn't want to hire a GM so close to retirement.
