Yes I was thinking neither as well.  Both looks horrible.

Neither position(or should I say the players currently on roster) should be determining any pick. The Panthers need everything but a RB. The only decent player is owed 13M in new money this year. And next. On top of 17M In dead cap. He shouldn’t be here this year if they can get any sort of pick for him. Jackson is a slot CB at best. Other three should barely be on an NFL roster.

The only relevant players are Shaq, CMC, Moore, and Burns. Moton if he’s extended. Which needs to be addressed before the draft.

Ive seen people talking about Michael Pittman Jr as one of the biggest sleepers in the draft. He is gonna be a 2nd round pick. Ive seen comparisons to Michael Thomas because of the body size and similar 40. Ive seen Mike Evans comps without the explosiveness. Ive also seen Brandon Marshall comps who both have similar speed, body and game. He has great blood lines, his dad was a RB in the NFL.

So with WR not being the biggest need but knowing you have a chance at a really good WR for the future and possibly one of the best players in the 2nd round. Would you take him? It would intrigue me a lot. Im looking long term especially in the 2nd. But given you can probably get Bryan Edwards or Antonio Gandy Golden in the 4th or even more sleepers later in the draft, id probably pass and regret it later.

I wouldn't get mad about taking a WR in the 2nd or 3rd. In fact, I think it would be a great idea. Robby Anderson is only on a two year deal and Curtis Samuel is going into the last year of his rookie contract. The other guys we signed our afterthoughts. This WR draft is strong and deep and we have way too many holes to fill to legitimately try to compete this year, so we need to be drafting for the next 2-3 anyway IMO.

Part of the reason trading down in the first is so tempting to me is I would love an extra second to spend on a WR.

Based on free agency we have almost cornered ourselves into taking a DT and CB in the first 3 rounds, maybe even the first 2.

I also think we might try to force a DE early.

I just hate missing out on this WR class.

I think we're gonna force a lot. Honestly, this looks to be one of the best WR and OT classes in recent memory and we signed a fairly big money WR and traded for a starting LT. Unfortunately, taking advantage of the strengths of a draft class has never been a strength of the Panthers.

I really don't think anyone else was going to give Robby Anderson that type of money given the strength of the incoming WR class.

No... because he will probably be there in the 3rd or even the 4th round... I've heard about 8 WR "Sleepers" .. That means there are alot of talented WR's in this draft and some of them will be available later...

and the Seth Roberts deal.  $3.75m cap hit is substantial.  That is the 13th highest cap hit on the team.

Verge,

Are you or your guy hearing anything about what the Panthers will do at 7? Is the Henderson buzz real???

Simmons or Brown/Kinlaw, I don't know where they are getting Henderson from, that makes no sense unless we were to trade down.

@Verge have you heard anything on Denzel Mims? Connections to Panthers or just where you/your friend think he’ll go... The Rhule Baylor connection and where he’s expected to go (early 2ndish) along with his upside just got me thinking about him.

Sorry if you’ve already posted it here this thread is long as hell and I may have missed some things.

He isn't a fit for where we would have to take him I don't think, but the connection certainly is there. I don't see a scenario where we don't go defense with the first two picks tbh.

Verge, why do you think so many mocks are undecided on if the Chargers are taking a QB?  I've only seen a very small sample over the past few months with the Dolphins passing on a QB, but I have seen a significant amount that has the Chargers taking BPA, assuming the next QB in line ins't it.

No QB action in FA with the draft in a week...could they really be content to go into the season with Taylor as the lead man?  Not to mention Easton Stick as the only backup.

I do think they will take a QB, just depends on which one gets to them and which one they have cleared medically. It's not a far stretch to say that Tua could be the 4th QB taken. Hard to see Chargers passing him up though.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports "one team that appears poised to move up" in the draft is the Falcons from No. 16 overall.

The Falcons have just six picks in next week's draft, so they'd likely have to dip into their 2021 stock to make a move happen.  Defensive line and cornerback appear to be the team's biggest needs right now.  Maybe GM Thomas Dimitroff is eyeing someone like Ohio State CB Jeffrey Okudah, though that would likely require a huge leap into the top three or five picks.  Do-it-all LB Isaiah Simmons, Auburn DT Derrick Brown, and Florida CB C.J. Henderson also make plenty of sense for Atlanta.

I think they are targeting Henderson. Fits their scheme and they need to cover Michael Thomas/Mike Evans/DJ Moore. Kinlaw does make sense though.

Hearing from a lot of very difference sources this morning that Andrew Thomas could be the first OT off the board.

Nah. I think the Bucs probably trade up to get him though, he might be their OT1.

I have had Herbert to Miami for a minute, I think the Dolphins really like him and will make him the second QB taken.
