Another year, another draft thread.

I saw that the Steelers GM Kevin Colbert suggested that the draft should add 3 more rounds because of the scramble for undrafted FA is gonna be crazy.

I would love that so much. Extend some of the draft until sunday. 10 rounds.

With Rhule and Brady and a young roster, we should get some good UDFA this year either way.

I would hope so, Hurney isn't an UDFA guy. Last year we went with the AAF stars and ignored UDFAs and got nothing out of that move.

I get that, and I thought Armanti Edwards would be a seventh rounder or undrafted free agent when we traded up to get him in the third round.  I am not afraid of where this guy could go, I am afraid of what the dumbass will do when he falls in love with a player.  He telegraphs, reaches, and he drafts poorly.   Other than that, he's good.

Seriously, when I hear Hurney is looking through the dumpster for a gem, it scares me.  If he was not so subjective and emotional, I would encourage homework.  Maybe, however, he has been assigned the Undrafted free agents.  Maybe Rhule, Brady, and Snow will run things.

Hurney is a terrible talent evaluator, probably the worst GM in the NFL. I am still in shock that they had Will Grier over Daniel Jones and Kyler Murray. This is some really simple poo.

@Verge Feel free to link me the post if you already have shared this, but what are your opinions on the interior offensive linemen? Specifically the prospects that can compete at guard their rookie year before moving over to take over for Paradis at center next season or the season after?

I was high on Tyler Biadasz and Nick Harris throughout the season, but liked what I saw out of Cushenberry at the Senior Bowl I think it was. That, and with Brady being the new OC, I've become very high on Cushenberry. A lot of folks regard Cesar Ruiz as the top guy, but just as I was about to do more research on him I saw Netane Muti's bench reps and felt my inner Al Davis tingle.

How would you rank these prospects (as well as any that you've got your eye on) and what round grades would you give them?

Didn't mean to ignore this, just missed it.

My interior ranks look like:
1. Cesar Ruiz (1-2)
2. Cushenberry (1-2)
3. Hunt (2-3)
4. Biadasz (2-3)
5. Simpson (3)

So why did we keep Davis? Scarlett?  Bonnefon?  Marty has always loved him some RBs--immediate return on the investment, I suppose.  The focus has been on offense when we needed to build the OL on offense and work on the defense.  He then cuts Reid, Luke retires, he does not re-sign Butler, Love, or Poe---and he focuses on SKILL players on the offense--the draft is LOADED at WR, so we stock the pantry with---you guessed it--Wide Receivers.  Now he wants a 5th RB--it is like he is spending the cap so he is not forced to do what he has proven that he cannot do---draft or sign OL and DTs.

We have NO CBs and are 1 deep at S and DT--most of our rush ends are OLBs, and we have 1 starting LB returning...SO Marty is chatting it up with what will be our 5th string RB.  I do not get it.  CMC is getting most of the touches, and the three I mentioned are fine in relief--in fact, we should cut one.

Marty drafted RBs back to back in consecutive years.  Who does that?  A: Marty.

Marty's biggest flaw is his inability to understand how to put a team together....he simply cannot do it, add in his inability to look even one season down the road, and you have a recipe for disaster...which is what we are.

Good times.

You’re trying to understand something that makes no sense. Omenihu was a guy I loved after he looked great at the Senior Bowl. Remember that the Senior Bowl had Risner, Dillard, McCoy, the OU/Wisconsin Gs and a bunch of other day 1/2 OL. A great showcase for DL. Somehow he went after Scarlett, but you know we’re loaded with DL and had no future need in 2020 for a young 3-4/4-3 DE.

It drives me crazy also.  Shows a total lack of understanding of positional value.  Every year productive running backs are found throughout the draft and even undrafted.  I dare say outside of kickers probably the position most likely to do so.

Therefore I think it is easier to be right about them then other positions, but in reality I would prefer to be right about DL 50% of the time then RBs 100% of the time.  From a value perspective I think your team benefits more.  There are alternate ways for me to replace that RB production that is exponentially cheaper then replacing that DL production.

Agreed, especially when you have CMC. It was so obvious how many DL and interior OL we needed with Addison and Peppers getting older/retiring, Kalil retiring from us, Norwell leaving, Star leaving, Poe and Short being so expensive, not wanting Butler, etc. Even with all that we drafted 1 7th round DTs/3-4DEs/4-3 DEs and 0 Cs or Gs. We did, however, draft 5 LBs and  1 RB. There’s a reason why we went from playoffs to 5-11 with huge interior OL/DL issues in two years.

and the mid to later rounds is exactly where you should be drafting your interior lineman for the most part.

Would you agree that the interior lineman class is a bit weaker this year than recent years?

Mike Lombardi says two teams he’s talked to have “flunked” Tua’s physical.

Interesting. I can't say that it's shocking. That's a helluva injury he suffered.

How hilarious would it be though if the Dolphins are one of them and he turns out to be a great NFL QB. Brees free agency fiasco all over again for them.

I wonder how likely  Cushenberry in the 2nd is. I know we’re building defense but that would be a great fit with a guy that knows Brady well.

I really like Cushenberry, but want to spend the first two rounds on defense. Not that I draft need over BPA but I can't imagine that there won't be a starting CB or DT (depending on where we go in R1) that is equal or better value than Cushenberry.

Now if we want an IOL that Brady is familiar with, give me Damien Lewis in the fourth....MAYBE the third if we trade back into the mid-later part of it.

If we could do something like:

R1: DT - Brown/Kinlaw

R2: CB - Terrell/Johnson/Igbinoghen

R3: C - Biadasz

R3 (trade up for): G - Lewis

R4: LB - Davis-Gathier

R5: WR - Quartney Davis/Isaiah Hodgins
