Verge: What are you hearing about K'Lavon Chaisson. He has tiny 32 inch arms. Very, very few successful edge prospects with 32 inch arms and none in round 1. Any chance he slips to round 2????

I don't see him falling out of the first, he could fall to the 20's but not outside of that. He is a a big glob of clay waiting to be molded into Aldon Smith.

Verge - any speculation on your part about the number of “misses” by teams on draft picks bc of being hamstrung on the scouting process by the quarantines?

It's more of an inconvenience from what I understand, you have tape, you watched these dudes play in person, and you have virtual meetings.

Hear any rumblings about anything verge? Maybe any insider info to what Rhule and Company are thinking of doing this draft? To me it looks liek they are setting up for a very defensive draft.

Yeah I talked about that a couple of pages ago. I think our preference in round 1 is

1. Simmons
2. Brown/Kinlaw
3. Okudah
4. Wirfs

How far down do you think the panthers can trade down and still get Kinlaw? I personally think there isn't much of a drop off between the two and I'd love to see them get more draft capital in this draft as well. I'm all in on Simmons if they decide to stay put, Shaq and Simmons would make an incredible duo for sure.

I could definitely see us swapping with someone like the Raiders or 49ers 12-13 and still getting Kinlaw. It would make sense if one of them wants to move up for a receiver.

This draft is amazing, I would be very pleased if you managed to grab all these dudes. I just don't see it happening, as Robinson should go in the 2nd, and Robertson could go as high as the late second/early third. Jaylon Johnson in the 2nd makes a lot of sense for us too.

Elimating QB as an option

If Okudah isn't there at 7 I have a feeling we try to trade down to the 14ish pick range and draft Kinlaw. Looking at the draft order and draft value chart a potential trade partner is Cleveland at 10. They have a lot of draft capital and might want to get their guy at Tackle. They give us 10 and a third rounder (74) overall to move up.

Second round I would go CB, hopefully the guy from Auburn is on the board

Third round and up go BPA at LB, IOL, TE, S, CB, DT

If we trade with Cleveland I could see our draft going like this

1st (10 overall)- Kinlaw UT

2nd- Igbinoghne (sp) CB

2nd (trade!) we package our third and our additional fifth from the Skins to move back into the second: Lloyd Cushenberry IOL/C

3rd (Browns pick): Leki Fotu NT

4th: James Lynch EDGE/UT

5th: Harrison Hand CB temple

6th: BPA

7th: BPA

FYI, I found a new simulator for those of you tired of Fan Speak.  I'm sure others have used it, but it seems the Fan Speak simulator has been the staple.  This uses a consensus of BBs, so you won't get stuck trying to figure out whose BB is crap or not.  I was able to get a good draft out of it.

Just basically picking top available prospect in the first four or five rounds gave me this:

Not sure how realistic it is, but hey, I'll take it.

What exactly are you basing this on?

I would say WR is above DT, or at least most DTs.  There are very few DTs who really rush the pass consistently.  A lot of your best run stopping DTs aren't even on the filed on third down.

You actually get the most value out of a run stopping DT when you are losing.  By that I mean the other team is winning so they are running more.

In my mind order of importance goes:

Tier 1 - QB and this Tier is way ahead of Tier 2

Tier 2 - Someone for the QB to throw to (WRs),  Someone to cover those guys the QB is throwing to (CBs).  Someone to protect the QB (OTs) someone to pressure the QB (edge)

Tier 3 - Everyone else

Salaries that teams tend to pay support this.  Also PFF has done some differently analysis on WAR, and tried to quantify which positions add the most to your chance of winning versus replacement level players and it is pretty much in line with this also.

DTs are a bit of anomaly because there a few really high priced ones.  But here again those are ones that can get to the QB consistently.  Quality run stopping DTs tend to be found later in the draft and also are a lot cheaper in free agency.

Preach. Unless you’re getting an Aaron Donald type player top 10 is awful value for taking a DT, especially one that isn’t good at rushing the passer

If the draft is that deep at corner then i probably take a d linemen over okudah

Agreed. Same with WR. Why would you ever take a WR at 7 when a WR at 38, with this class, would be like taking a WR at 15 in another year.

I know the NFL grades aren’t perfect but DJ was the top WR picked in 2018. He’s been great but there are 11, yes 11 WRs this year with a higher grade than him. There won’t be 13 taken in the first so you are going to see WRs who would be top 20-25 picks most years go late 2nd.

I don’t know poo about Harrison Hand but I want him on our team based on his name alone.
