When did WR become higher value then DT??

Tier 1 QB, LT, Edge rushers

Tier 2 CB, DT, WR

Tier 3  S, TE, LB, OG

Tier 4  K, P FB

It's not just the need we're talking about a top 5 talent so need fits player ranking and position value in  Brown..

Also let's not talk about building from inside out and not valuing building from inside to out.. That's speaking out of both sides of your mouth..

What exactly are you basing this on?

I would say WR is above DT, or at least most DTs.  There are very few DTs who really rush the pass consistently.  A lot of your best run stopping DTs aren't even on the filed on third down.

You actually get the most value out of a run stopping DT when you are losing.  By that I mean the other team is winning so they are running more.

In my mind order of importance goes:

Tier 1 - QB and this Tier is way ahead of Tier 2

Tier 2 - Someone for the QB to throw to (WRs),  Someone to cover those guys the QB is throwing to (CBs).  Someone to protect the QB (OTs) someone to pressure the QB (edge)

Tier 3 - Everyone else

Salaries that teams tend to pay support this.  Also PFF has done some differently analysis on WAR, and tried to quantify which positions add the most to your chance of winning versus replacement level players and it is pretty much in line with this also.

DTs are a bit of anomaly because there a few really high priced ones.  But here again those are ones that can get to the QB consistently.  Quality run stopping DTs tend to be found later in the draft and also are a lot cheaper in free agency.

I'm basing it on Positional value..

The only mistake I made is QB is in it's on tier..

LT, Pass rusher and CB are tier 2

DT, WR, S tier 3

And so on...

I think all 10 could probably start on a nfl roster tomorrow.

I agree.

And, assuming that that is the case, I don't see any reason to take a CB with pick #7 when one of the ten CB's above will likely be available with the 7th pick in the 2nd round.

Minnesota CB Chris Williamson recently met virtually with the Bills, Panthers, Cardinals and Vikings according to SB Nation's Justin Melo

Williamson (6'0/205) wasn't invited to participate in the NFL Scouting Combine, but his positional versatility is viewed as a positive as the draft draws closer. Projected to be a Day 3 selection, the former Golden Gopher had a productive 2019 after struggling with injuries for much of his time at Florida (Williamson transferred ahead of the 2017 season). Unfortunately for Williamson and many other prospects they've lost the ability to compete in a pro day setting due to the coronavirus pandemic, but at this point NFL scouts and decision makers have more than enough tape to pore over as they make their decisions

FYI, I found a new simulator for those of you tired of Fan Speak.  I'm sure others have used it, but it seems the Fan Speak simulator has been the staple.  This uses a consensus of BBs, so you won't get stuck trying to figure out whose BB is crap or not.  I was able to get a good draft out of it.

This one looks good too.  I been looking at BBs for over 3 months now and can spot a jacked up one pretty quickly.  Their rankings seem in line with some of the other reliable ones.  Although I'm not sure Fotu and Robinson last to those spots.  It's possible, but not likely.

7. Derrick Brown-DT Auburn

38. Jeff Gladney-CB TCU

69. Jeremy Chinn-S Southern Illinois

148. Alton Robinson-DE Syracuse

152. L'Jarius Sneed-CB Louisiana Tech

184. Quez Watkins-WR Southern Miss

221. James Smith-Williams-DE NC State
