@Verge who are your top 8 CB and where do the satarter level players stop? Im struggling there, bad.

That is a damn good draft.  Glad you understand how good Vildor will be-- a sixth round steal.  I like the versatility of Daryl Williams II--your fifth round is very solid. Hennessy might go higher-I have a third round value on him, but he could fall.  The C spot is pretty unloved right now--but it is deep. Arnette is going to have to start, but with Simmons, we can do a lot to take pressure off him (that sounds odd, but not really).  Finally, Blacklock is a DT with early second round talent and he will fit behind KK in the rotation.  Not sure about Roy--need to peek.

To me, Simmons or Brown is the first round pick.  Do not be surprised to see CB in the second round.   There are several day 2 CBs I like.  I think, since we have KK and Kerr, we could add DT later, unless we take Brown.

THe problem with taking Brown in the first---if you base it solely on need---is we have KK Short at that spot.  He would see the field about 40% of the time---or less.  Simmons would never leave the field.

Your list is quite accurate @Verge

Jordan Elliott especially.  He may very well be the next DT after Blacklock.  Ahead of Madubuike, Gallimore (Faller), etc.

Likewise with Noah from Auburn.  He could be the 4th/5th CB off the board ahead of the likes of Dantzler and Fulton.

Cameron Dantzler is one of the CBs I'm interested in.  Wonder where he is on our board.

Good post--I agree on every count.

Those were pretty much the consensus picks before the draft in here. Our last three first round picks might as well have been put up as posters on the stadium before the drafts.

We pretty much also knew that Grier and Little were coveted although Little was pushed way more by verge. I think those of us who didn’t think we’d pick Little were more hoping we wouldn’t pick him. Miller wasn’t surprising either since we were the only team to bring him in for one of the limited private visits.

I don’t think the interior OL will go as high as some in here think. There’s some decent ones but not nearly as good as the last two years. I think we tend to pump up positions of need and we need interior OL after ignoring them the past two drafts.

KK is a pass rushing DT. Brown is a run stopping DT. They would both start.

Short may not be much of a pass rushing DT anymore. I really hope we release him. 3 sacks in two years isn’t worth continuing to pay $13-14M in salary. He’s not getting healthier or better as he gets older.

As far as my insight on the Panthers, from what I understood is Rhule is pretty much running the show on prospects, and is big on character, versatility, and speed. He expects us to attack our interior in the first round, and attack the edges in round 2-3 (CB/Edge rusher). This is going to be a very defensive draft for us. This is all kind of just the buzz within that community, and it's kind of impossible to say what is really happening given that people are just interacting through skype right now lol

If I had to guess right now:
Rd 1: Derick Brown
Rd 2: Alton Robinson
Rd 3: Amik Robertson

Alton Robinson with the 2nd pick? :poison:. What, are we trading down into the late 3rd rd?

I don't believe Simmons will make it to us. If he did, I am fairly certain Simmons would be our guy.

Agreed

1. I think there is some smoke for the Redskins trying to trade down and get him.  Snyder and co like Young.  Ron wants Simmons.

2. Also dont get wrapped so much with the Giants and OT rd 1.  Theyve set them selves up to where they can wait until rd 2 for a OT.  Secondly Simmons fits what that staff likes on D.  Lastly while Gettleman is famous for his big uglies.  He like athletic versatile players as well (see Shaq Thompson, the S,LB hybrid)

Verge: Are you really hearing we are that high on Alton Robinson........ that would be a horrible second round pick

The disrespect for Brown by some ppl on this board is crazy.. He is by far the best DT in this draft.. If he is there that is the pick..

I haven't seen much disrespect, I have seen, and it is my stance, not wanting to go DT in the top 10...would much prefer more coveted positions such as OT, WO, DE, CB, or QB.

Although I don't want a QB this year.

This draft will be interesting because of two payers that will greatly influenced who and where we draft. If there’s calamity around who wants Tua and Herbert we may see some trades and or good players fall. I for one think we should be dead set on 1. Simmons 2. Okudah 3. Brown. The only way I see them going in another direction at 7 is if they really think Bridgewater is the future and they go OT or WR. Besides the 3 names I mentioned I feel trading down to let one of the other teams needing a QB to over pay and move up. I for one hope we get Jeudy if able to trade down and he’s available. Something about him makes me believe that he could be our Julio Jones. With him and Moore we could replicate what Jones and Roddy White could’ve done for the Falcons. We have too often over looked having offensive weapons and it’s time we change that. Our needs on defense out weigh “luxury picks” but you don’t build a team fully through the draft. Putting pieces of the puzzle together through free agency and not over spending while getting in your face talent and retaining it is the direction I’d love to see this team finally do. We had Hurney a few years back over paying “our guys” and that worked out horribly but with proper foresight after a few years off to get perspective through hindsight of previous mistakes I feel we can and should finally look towards making a name for this franchise in a more positive light. Maybe 3-4 years from now we will have our first back to back winning seasons who knows but trying to do something different from the norm is all I’ve ever asked of this franchise for the past 25 years.

I think Tua is a virtual lock to go in the top six. Herbert and Love are the big wildcards at QB in this draft IMO.

Im sure he's hearig we "like him" but not necessarily have the rd right.

FWIW he had Christian Miller mocked to us in the 2nd last year. And Little in the 1st to us.

We did draft Miller........in the 4th

And Little in the 2nd.  So he was right on player interest just wromg where they went
