CMC got downgraded because he piled up stats on a dumpster fire team. These awards almost always go to players on playoff teams. That is literally it. Had we been a playoff team and the Saints not been, mush-mouthed Thomas fans would have been shouting about CMC being ranked higher.

Where does Thomas beat McCaffrey other than receptions (which mean nothing)? How in the world could these people vote for Thomas over McCaffrey? It’s unjustifiable. You could argue Lamar for OPOY, sure. But Thomas over McCaffrey just makes no sense. 

Two complaints with these awards is how heavily favored QB’s are for MVP and how much stock is put into guys on teams who have winning records. Sure, the Panthers sucked but Christian single handedly carried us all year.

no one should be surprised by this. Also cmac had 3 chances at the one yard line to win or tie for overtime and he got stuffed.

Cmc is a beast and I was chanting mvp during that 5-3 stretch. But you’re not gonna win an award being the focal point on one of the worst teams in the league stats be damned. It’s crazy to me how people are getting so upset by this.

I’m not particularly “upset.” I just recognize a flawed system. If MVP literally stands for “most valuable player” to a team, I challenge anyone to think of a better name than CMC who fits that bill outside the QB position.

So it’s an individual award with the qualifier that you must have a decent team around you, something you as a player have zero control over?

This is why I’ve never liked this aspect of how they select the winner. It makes absolutely zero sense. If it is supposed to an I dividual award, then factors beyond the individual’s control should be irrelevant. I’m not terribly upset about it, I just think since it’s being discussed that these unspoken qualifier criteria are dumb.

It makes about as much sense as saying you can only win the Oscar for Best Actor or Best Actress If the film you won for was also nominated for Best Sound Editing.

Because CMC gets a ton of garbage time yards and stats. Team getting blown out majority of games and he is racking up stats is not smiled upon nor is it efficient
