Some have visions that Cam loves them and that he is not a real person, that he will not be like other people who actually work for money.

Inevitably, when a player says to his team, "its not about the money" it has always turned out to be about the money.  Cam should be no different

And some people think they rely on numbers and odds and leave their feelings out of it.

They say "its not about feelings", but it turned out to be about the feelings.

Could things change? definitely.  But going by Cam's history and his previous contract its not been about getting top dollar.

And as a disclaimer.  I fully realize Cam will get paid wherever he goes.  It will be north of 30m.  In 2 years the cap will have gone up another 20 mil (its typically about 9-11m per year).  A 5 year 150m for a QB will be normal.  I am not against that.

I am only saying that per his past actions, I don't expect Cam to push to be the highest paid QB in the league as what often happens whenever a new QB is up for an extension.

Alright so the 9th qb in 2020 is at 27 mil per.  So lets say cam signs for 5 years 28 mil per at 140 total.  that takes him to 36 years old.   yeah thats a tough one

Nobody is arguing that.  I appreciated the links to compare different contracts.  I hadnt seen that before.  It will be interesting nonetheless especially considering Teppers "36 million...." comment.

Not really.  Unless its all gtd money.  Total contract money is pretty irrelevant.  Typically only 3 years are gtd.  So that would be like 5 years, 140m. 85 gtd or something.

Then I dont know how that fits in Teppers consistency model.  Like I said man its going to be an interesting month and last nights interview just supercharged things.  I think we probably get a response from the organization about cams interview this week.  At least I hope we do

Hometown discount is fantasy land stuff.

You think Cam should entertain your asses for 15 mill while his peers are making 30+?  Yeah, its all about the feels.  Cam loves me, he will work for half just to prove it.

Cam will disappoint you if this situation presents itself, as he should.  You guys are out there

Did I miss someone saying he'd sign for 15m/year?

Go home.  You are drunk.  Which is pretty impressive since its 930am.

Cam won an MVP and at 26 years old signed a team friendly deal. Why wouldn't he do the same thing at 31? To stay with the franchise he wants to play for. If Cam was all about the money he would have reset the market with his first contract in which he had ALL of the leverage. He did not do it then why would he do that now when he doesn't have the same kind of leverage at 31?

Do you take Cam for a fool?  Your fool in particular?  He is a business man and an athlete.  Nobody in his right mind would buy into the "hometown discount" stuff, especially when living in Atlanta.  Stuff like that is generally said when they are trying to use leverage one way or the other.

At the end of the day, I don't think we will get to the hometown discount situation anyway.  Maybe I am wrong and Cams shoulder, scar tissue, arthritis, etc, will work differently in his body than it does in others bodies.  But odds are not in his favor.  I will be happy for him is he does because it would be pretty miraculous.  But it won't be because I was a good or bad fan.

Cam's going to be a Panther for another 9 years, man.
