Cam Newton: Foot injury a “blessing” for his shoulder.

Bradberry isn't gone yet. We may not have to pickup two OL. Maybe Little and/or Daley can actually develop into something.

We aren't going to neglect the defense. We'll add defensive pieces.

I guess I'm just not looking for the nearest bridge from which to swan dive, that's all.

Both show glimpses as promise as rookies and don't immediately show starting quality= huddle throwing both out.

Hypothetical:

Rumors were that Indy might give us a 1st (13th) and a 3rd for Cam.

This lets us get Brown at 7 and an OT at 13

or Simmons at 7 and Kinlaw at 13

All sorts of scenarios

You still stay w Cam on a one year deal with all the questions, knowing we will NOT be good next season?

And no QB.  A position more important than Kinlaw and whoever you get in the 3rd round combined.  The trade would probably set us back 3 years.

Let's take a step away from the ledge for a second. Nothing has to be decided soon, so let's not knee-jerk this.

We have a brand new staff coming in. Let's see what they bring to the table. No decisions have to be made until the draft. At that point, we'll likely know a little more about the staff and plans for the team.

There are a lot of holes to fill, but I still believe the team is talented. With Rivera in "win now or else" mode, the younger players were never going to get a shot. Now, they will. There's simply no choice.

I expect the OLine to be better through health and good coaching. I expect the DLine to improve, whether that's through FA or the draft. We'll certainly have a very good idea where the team is headed at the end of the draft.

Lots of good TEs available in rounds 2-4 this year. It would be nice to have a decent pairing.

I expect the DLine to be addressed in the draft/FA, along with IOL. The rest filled by FA.

A lot of things have to go right, but if Cam is healthy, this team could be surprising and could energize Cam with an influx of youth and a new staff. But nothing has to be decided now.

Stand by.

The more they played the worse they looked. I truly hope one or both can develop into something, all I'm saying is that we shouldn't be planning on relying on that.

Yes, because a franchise QB is by far the hardest piece to find. If Cam was 40 I'd feel differently. He's not. He's 30.

I am glad Cam is staying. This is the best chance to revitalize his career and when he is healthy he is quite a weapon. Trading him now might get a third which is peanuts compared to what we could do with a healthy Cam, a new staff and a new system. Hell it might be a big flop and after the last 2 seasons it would be more of the same. But what if he truly is healthy this time???  Worth 20 million to see? It would be to me. He would at least be going to camp. Oh I would probably draft another one. After all sooner or later you get your guy if you keep drafting them. But that is just me ...

Exactly. It's a far bigger risk to trade him for what he's currently worth than roll the dice on him next season. $21M is chump change for a QB in today's NFL. We have no long-term risk since he's on the last year of his deal. If he stays healthy and plays well, figure out an extension. If he doesn't, well we're probably sitting in a good place to try to land another QB next year. I'd probably feel differently if Cam was older or if we had another promising QB on the roster, but Cam is only 30 and the QBs currently on the roster looked like trash.

My opinion is that we will trade him unless we get no credible offers.  At that point, we try to talk up the decision to make it look like our idea.

Shoulder will never be the same, and a grade 3 foot injury will naturally cause loss of motion and make him a bit slower on his feet.  2015 is gone in my opinion.  Hope that it is not the case.

Think

It would be better to trade Cam if all the reports continue to be good.

At this point, even a healthy Cam won't be that way for long and cannot win with a terrible Oline, Dline, etc.  The Panthers should let him go somewhere that he has a chance of seeing playoffs right away.  He is not going to play another 10 years in the league.

go smell a fart dude

Im more worried about the interior than the tackles.  Maybe a good LG would go a long way

Recheck the film, sir.  Until he was injured, Van Roten was a stalwart at LG.  Study every big run that CMC broke up the middle -- the holes were there because GVR pulled to the next level to cleat the LB.

Now if you'd said we need an upgrade at LT or C, I'd be with you.

Thought you took your meds and went to bed.

It is a principle of the internet that, if you have to argue your point over and over and over and over and over (and you took maybe 24 more overs on this thread), the Law of Diminishing Returns (should be well known to a bean counter) kicks in.

Try for brevity next time.

(Keep pounding, Cam!)

Do you realize how hard it is to get a good quarterback?  If Cam is healthy, we should keep him.  The chances of getting a good replacement are at best 1 in 4, even if we have a top draft pick.  I would rather have Cam for 5 or 6 more years than go thru what Tampa, Cleveland, Chicago, Buffalo, the Jets, Vikings, Redskins, etc etc etc... have went thru over the last 5, 10, 15 years.
