Then what?  Rebuild with a 32-year old running QB with accuracy issues making $30m?  They might keep him for one season--while grooming a QB---but even if he plays well, he would be traded, in all likelihood. I think they are looking for a new era--a new face.  If you think Cam's best years are ahead of him, raise his salary 50% at 32.   If you think he is starting to decline, do not raise his salary 50%.

What accuracy issues are you talking about? Youre a cool poster, but you keep posting this and it’s not true. You were willing to roll with a QB in Allen who was about the same as Cam was % wise his rookie year, so the rookie excuse won’t fly.

Plus Cam in his rookie year had no offseason and took the worst offense the year before to top 5..

Also Russell is older then Cam and just went thru a rebuild..

Some folks won’t admit it, but they had the notion and idea that Cam was going to be inaccurate and a “running QB” before he even set foot here. How you willing to give Kyle a chance, but in 2011/12 was wanting to move on from Cam due to “inaccuracy.”

It’s ashamed, but not shocking.

Wilson and Rodgers both went through rebuilds.

These guys are so transparent with their narratives.

Hell, even Brees went through a rebuild post 30.

Thanks Aggie--he throws high a lot.  In fact, that is the logic behind drafting Kelvin and Funchess--they had a huge radius. It is not just me, however. Rather have Cam than Allen---but not willing to scrap Allen like others are, but I would say things were worse for him (OL, D, etc) Than they were for Cam---but that is subjective.  I want a new QB---unless Cam is healthy and can go.  Year three of a question mark is getting old.  Here are some articles from over the years about the accuracy (I would say that when he plants and throws, he is on the money---but when he gets moved off the spot, he gets erratic):

And about Allen--he sure looked decent to good for 4 weeks---now, that means nothing to his critics, but it does show what he can do.  I am not promoting that Allen take Cam's place---I am suggesting that it is way too early to give up on Allen.  You cannot put a developmental player in that situation and expect a quality performance.  However, people (to argue with me) are comparing Allen--an undrafted free agent--to players that were picked in the first round--#1 overall in 3 cases.  YOUR POINT--Allen and Cam had about the same comp% during their first years.  How many wanted Cam gone?  How many said Cam sucks?  At 22, Cam brought a ton more--the ability to run and his size.  However, people want to throw Allen away because he sucked in worse conditions. So I throw out the Manning, Elway, and Bradshaw stats.  Not saying Allen is like them--he did nothing in college---but his numbers were better.  How do we explain keeping Elway, Manning, and Bradshaw after their first years?  First rounders are investments.  Undrafted free agents have a shorter learning curve.  If Cam cannot go next year, fix the OL and D.  then have comp between Allen and Grier--just to see what we have in them. If we are not behind, they can manage games.  But with no D and no OL, no chance.
