I had a coworker, we both were on commission only and had to share a limited amount of resources that could produce us money.

Think a widget seller, but there were only 100 widgets and there were two of you that had access to them to sell.

After the 1st year, I had sold 35 widgets, and he had sold 9.  Boss asked me what was going on with.... we will call him Harty Murney?

I said nothing, comes in every day at the right time, works his butt off, does all the right things, just not sure why his widget sales aren't coming in.....I assured him that in time, he would take off like a rocket.

Narrator:  He didn't, and Fuzz sold 78 of those widgets before Harty quit due to lack of income.

I see this the exact same way.

If you keep playing with your widget you're going to go blind

Why do the Panthers, specifically Tepper, insist on keeping Hurney? — Jeff V.

Really? Is that why he was doing sports radio when he was out of a job the last time as a GM.

Hasn't the reporting from local beat writers always leaned towards shining a positive light on the franchise, to a point of fault. I respect and enjoy Rodrique's contributions, but it's hard to wash almost 3 decades worth of Panther-controlled insights over Charlotte media.... so I take everything with a grain of salt.

Hurney should not be our GM, but I don't think Tepper is blind to his shortcomings. Much the way Cam is potentially a "bridge" QB, I think Tepper might see the same with Hurney. I see Hurney as a transitional FO guy that hasn't completely destroyed our franchise enough to keep around for the first year or two of Tepper's tenure.

Hurney is not a sustainable answer as the #2 guy in a multi-billion dollar franchise. Hopefully we land an AGM before the draft so Marty can make his one pick at #7 and then turn the reigns of one of thee most important drafts in our franchise's history over to someone more competent. Our roster has a lot of holes to fill and we need to walk out of this draft with at least 3 starters and 1 or 2 fringe/ST players, moving forward. I don't think Hurney is capable of achieving this. We also need to sit out FA this year and be careful of our spending to ensure that we can start to make our turn towards '21 and '22 as our years to start adding veteran/young talent to compliment our draftees.

This franchise is at a massive crossroads with a lot of little tasks and decisions that in turn, lead to bigger more impactful decisions that shapes the future for the next 3-8 years. Hurney is not capable of this in his current role. As an advisor or a guy in the room, sure...but not as GM.

IMO the proof is in the pudding. Hurney has done a horrendous job. People may say he is held in high regard. I think they are blowing smoke. Why did no one hire him after he left Panthers last time if that was true. The record of the team, his draft history,  depth of team,  salary cap of this team and the fact the owner had to pay a ridiculous amount of money to get the coach he wanted to come here is the reality of how Hurney is doing.

I also predict Hurney will not be the GM by the time training camp starts.

It's amazing how much ruckus there's been with Hurney's picks, and traded for players, retiring this year and the last few. It's amazing how a guy that couldn't build a team can also have his picks/trades retire and this entire forum go to poo because it's a "full rebuild". What's more funny is Gettleman's picks and traded for players people had no problem with leaving the team, and the current ones left people are making arguments they should be let go this off-season or traded for picks.

lmao yall dumb as hell, I'll give you a clue

Try not to target one person as the "problem" every single year, then parrot it infinitely until they're gone, and actually take a step back and do some thinking for yourself.
