Jourdan Rodrigue says Hurney is "seriously respected in many football circles"

The naysayers will just nitpick and disagree with anything you say. They can't stand that he is here and gets respect around the.league. it totally negates the negative group speak which pervades here anymore

I think this is a case of one of those they are saying it in hopes Tepper keeps him because he sucks.  Like Coach K did with Herb S,  "Herb is a great coach, great x and o's guy, he really knows what he is doing" meanwhile Herb didnt beat him hardly at all.

Hurney has drafted talent after the first. Donte Jackson was mocked well higher than where we took him. Little was a perfect pick and he was talked about as a possible first rounder. C. Miller was projected as a second rounder.

Yeah I know we got these players because other teams knew they were trash.

He has had some blunders but I don't think he is what kept us from winning the last two years.

Dude, you just dug a grave. If a player was mocked higher, guess what, he was passed on because he isn't worth it. Jackson sucks, little, besides the injury concerns, doesn't have the skills to start at LT and you saw it on the field. Him and a sixth roind pick were interchangeable. He picks up scraps unless he's in the best position. Jimmy Pickles was scraps. He will throw away our number one next year just to move back up this year. People need to stop being in denial. You don't say you want to move forward from the old regime when the main culprit is still here and even worse getting endorsed. This guy has sucked a lot of dick. Oh and stalked jis ex girlfriend mind you.

Donte Jackson was mocked 4th rounder until the combine then early 3rd after FWIW.

Little was only talked about a potential 1st by guys who said Hurney liked him and was prepared to take him in the 1st.  No one else were That high on him.  More of a 2nd rounder grade.

Christian Miller was projected a 3rd rounder.  And fell to the 4th due to injury concerns.  Not a 2nd round grade.

If I'm from another team of course I'm going to tell you I respect the guy that's led your team to perpetual mediocrity is the guy you want to keep.

They may respect his 1st round draft ability, or his communication with players, but the rest of his skills as GM have left a lot to be desired.

I had a coworker, we both were on commission only and had to share a limited amount of resources that could produce us money.

Think a widget seller, but there were only 100 widgets and there were two of you that had access to them to sell.

After the 1st year, I had sold 35 widgets, and he had sold 9.  Boss asked me what was going on with.... we will call him Harty Murney?

I said nothing, comes in every day at the right time, works his butt off, does all the right things, just not sure why his widget sales aren't coming in.....I assured him that in time, he would take off like a rocket.

Narrator:  He didn't, and Fuzz sold 78 of those widgets before Harty quit due to lack of income.

I see this the exact same way.

Exactly. Success in the NFL is zero sum.

So the thought is they keep Hurney around long enough to sack Cam, then sack Hurney to quell the uproar ?  Really ?  lol.

It's a theory, and one that wouldn't surprise me.

Tepper hasn't made a lot of friends since his arrival, cutting Cam would only further the divide between him and the fanbase.

Make Marty the fall guy.

I'm not saying it's true, but wouldn't shock me.

He absolutely is. His drafts and FAs the past two years have not been good at all. First, lots of guys get mocked in the first early. If everyone mocked in the first went in the first, then 60+ players would go in the first. Miller wasn’t mocked in the second. Little was talked about in the first before the combine. Same as Orlando Brown the year before (he went in the 3rd). We were the only team that hadn’t dropped Little. By the time the draft came, Little wasn’t in the top 50 of almost all the draft folks except the ones using PFF grades religiously, like us. We didn’t need to trade up and we should have taken McCoy and locked up our C spot for a decade and still had pick 77 for another OL/DL. Donte is clearly a head case and he was picked around where he was projected although his speed made him climb higher. If, and that’s a big if, he can wake up then he’s got potential but we don’t know. So far it looks like a bad pick because he gets burned all the time.

You are sugar coating the heck out of his picks based on random or early mentions and not reality at the time of the draft.

I guess that's why he had all of those amazing job offers after he was fired in 2012-2013, right? Lmao. Like stated earlier the only reason they give him such good reviews is so that they can continue to abuse his decision making skills.

    • You go after my guy with nonsense like "I don't see quickness or explosiveness" and "I haven't seen a lot of quickness or full route tree ability that we always ignore" Then yea, I'm gonna punch back. Like I've said, if people want to draft someone else, that's totally fine, everyone has their own opinions.  But if you're going to advocate against a specific player, don't talk complete nonsense about their game like this. Even more so, don't do that when you're saying I'm the one with a bias towards him. If I was afraid of it looking like a bias pick on my part, I'd never have said I was an Arizona alumni when arguing for him, but I've admitted it from the very beginning, because I don't think my Arizona connection gives me a bias, it just means I know his game REALLY well as I've seen every snap of his college career.  So yea, you start saying the knocks on him are things that he's actually really good at, then you're going to get an earful from me with some video evidence to back it up. In the end, for me, it all falls back to how rare a player like T-Mac can be due to his size.  The smaller speedier type of WRs are exactly who you can find in later rounds and who become available as Free Agents, I can't ever get on board with taking a Hunter (as a WR) or Burden over T-Mac if all were on the board, for that reason alone, and I'd say that if he was a freaking Sun Devil, no matter how much it would hurt me to admit if it if that were the case.
