It's taken for hopeful optimism but it's really just common sense ..

Compare Cam's 2018 stats to his 2013 stats .. his stats are slightly better in 2018 .. but in 2013 the Panthers won 12 games ..

Can we please time this dude out at least? The 2013 team also had likely the 2nd best defense in the history of our franchise, 2018 had one of the worst... Offense couldn't do crap vs SF in both meetings.

The 2018 Cam also had 3 years left on a deal and was coming off a playoff year, 2020 Cam has a 19 million dollar cap savings potential and is getting hurt left and right. "He is not a doctor"= he is staying. Tepper I'm sure loved having words put in his mouth by Cam Newton. Man seems chill, but I could realistically see Tepper trading him for that very reason even healthy. "He said if he is healthy we will talk" He wouldn't even commit if healthy, let's not try to say it's definite. You look stupid, Thomas Davis is good friends with Cam and he suggested to him live on TV to get ready to find a new team. That statement by Cam could've easily been an attempt to keep his contract value if traded or cut up... People aren't going to pay if they thing you're hurt, now Cam can convince teams that he was cut because of his actions, not injuries.

I second that please ban him.

I really think there is a chance a healthy Cam could get cut or traded, I didn't hear a reverence about Cam from Tepper.

Yep totally agree. I don't see how anybody gets the feeling Cam is going to be a Panther next year. I mean I've not heard anyone in the organization give an answer like no matter what Cam is our qb. This is going on almost 5 or 6 months now, but if people want to keep dreaming is 2015 again go ahead.

I'd love to see the Patriots talk about Tom Brady, Saints talk about Drew Brees, or The Chiefs talk about Mahommes that way coming off an injury in a contract year. This dude needs to go find 2-3 teams that talk about the guy who they want to be the face of their brand and refer to him as "he" and not use his first or last name ONCE.

Yea the Chargers wont give up The 6th pick for Newton they can just draft a younger healthier  Qb if they stay put

The only reason the Chargers are in there is to give the Bengals another first

Under this scenario, a doctor ruled Cam 100% healthy and the foot and shoulder are fully healed after 2 games in a span of 2 years... If that report is provided, Cam is worth a 1st rounder, go look what Sam Bradford got in 2017. I personally don't see any respect from Tepper towards Cam.

Let me give you some advice.

There is almost always uncertainty in future events. I can't think of any future scenarios that are 100% certain. If you believe the opposite you are either really young or really naive. When you get old like me you will know this. Cam may leave, Tepper may move the panthers, Will Grier might get MVP next year.

Secondly arguing in black and white is not arguing in good faith. Saying X will 100% happen and then telling everyone with reasonable takes they are wrong is just annoying and dishonest.

Thirdly, making the same argument over and over and over means you are either trying to convince yourself of something or are just a troll. Stop.

Finally, if Cam does stay don't pretend like you had any insight. You don't. You got lucky.

    • Strange, every news article and tweet I just searched all mentioned waivers. It is definitely his sixth year of at least 6 games. All I was trying to think of earlier was at the vet min could he beat out Bryce in camp next year lol. He's kinda got the old Darnold issue where he can obviously launch deep balls and qb run at a level Bryce will never achieve, but it sounds like he would be content being like a Josh Allen backup who doesn't throw the whole game plan out the window if he has to come in for a series or two. If we had him and for some reason still wanted to start Bryce he would kinda do what Justin Fields was doing the other night with Dangeruss, coming in for designed runs and maybe some play action/triple option rpo things to go deep. That would be so obvious and sad though. At least Russ can still sling it 40 yards in the air with a flick of the wrist
    • Too late to edit above but the quote is from this Diane Russini article in the Athletic: https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5941684/2024/11/23/russinis-what-im-hearing-the-day-the-jets-fell-apart-and-the-broncos-rallied-belichick-best-fits/ Okay.. there you have sorry I left that out the first post.  Also waivers keep the contract intact. That is the major difference in released and waived. It's all in that link from the other post.
    • Okay so I am reading something in The Athletic and it says that Jones had to pass through waivers. So I don't know. I looked this stuff up when we were number one there all offseason and I thought it said 4 years in the league got you vested, as they call it.  Vested gets you out of waivers as I understood it. I probably got something wrong, but when I think about the slack quality of journalism these days I wonder about that. So I went and looked, again. Well, well.  For everyone: "When a player has accrued at least four seasons in the NFL, they are considered a vested veteran. When these vested veterans get cut, they are released and their contract is terminated. When a vested veteran is released, they are an unrestricted free agent that can sign with any NFL team, and the team that released them doesn’t need to provide any additional compensation." It runs it all down here, where the quotes came from: https://www.profootballnetwork.com/waived-vs-released-nfl/ As far as Jones, the team turned down his 5th year option so I knew that meant he had 4 years in, because they re-signed him anyway, after turning down the much cheaper extra year.  The Athletic is owned by the New York Times so I shouldn't be surprised. That paper was an institution once upon a time but they let their standards go.
